The second Atwood novel I read after The Handmaid‘s Tale blew me away. At times difficult to read because Atwood really gets how children can be cruel. This is the story of an unequal friendship and the toll childhood can take on one‘s later life. The cover made me think of today‘s prompt #walkingintheair

The Random House Book of Twentieth-century French Poetry: With Translations by American and British Poets | Paul Auster

My introduction to Philippe Petit was through the tagged book. Although a great anthology of poetry, Petit's didn't make much of an impression. I was unaware of his other accomplishments until the extraordinary documentary Man On Wire. I have yet to read McCann's novel, but it sounds promising.

When i was little i wanted mary poppins to come to tea, my favourite film. Well this was a perfect sequel and our family Christmas eve film had me walking on air as we left the cinema as my heroine does as she leaves the banks family. Great songs, choreography, and i loved the animation which heralded back to those great Disney animations.

Londoners were #WalkingInTheAir December 1952 as a noxious fog descended upon the city. But, a killer also stalked the streets. This narrative nonfiction discusses both catastrophic events. I had slated to read this one this year for a challenge prompt, but I don‘t think I‘ll be getting to it. But, it‘s still on my to read list! #WinterWonderland

Some Short Christmas Stories | Charles Dickens

so-so

I read this using @SerialReader as part of my plan to increase Holiday reading. The writing style, while beautiful, is confusing at times, so much so, that I found myself rereading passages frequently. In one of the stories, a supposedly poor man holds court at a party elaborating on all of his marvelous acquisitions. It ends with a comment about “castles in the air” which I needed to Google to understand! #winterwonderland #walkingintheair

The song is from the 1978 animated Christmas film “The Snowman” and is a great practice piece for beginners on any instrument.
Originally sung by a young choir boy named Peter Auty, this song also been covered by Aled Jones, Annie Haslam, Cliff Richard, Elaine Paige, Nightwish, Sally Harmon, The Shadows, George Winston and many others.
