The tv show made me curious again, and so I decided to re-read the books series after probably... 10 years? I think I was ten years old, and some parts scared me to death while others left me confused. I‘m close to the end of the first book, and I love the special connection between Lyra and Iorek.

Any fans of the book series and tv show on here? I‘m on episode 5, and I really enjoyed watching them, however I feel like lots of the more gruesome details got lost in the adaption (e.g the missing fish in Episode 5). Moreover, the special relationship between dæmon and human is gone ?.
I want to read the book series again these holidays though. Haven‘t read them since my childhood.

pickI finished this while the electricity was out, too. It‘s taken me a bit to collect my thoughts and come up with a review.
This book is a great story and a I can‘t wait to read the next one. The characters are either entirely likeable or entirely not likeable. It doesn‘t seem like there is a middle ground, but that serves a purpose within the story that makes a point of its own.
