Fade Away | Harlan Coben

After enjoying Win, I decided to go back to myron bolitar and the 3rd in the series, which was a cracking read. Here, Myron is persuaded, 10 years after his career ending injury, to return to a pro basketball team and investigate the disappearance of the star player. A fast-moving thriller which I thoroughly enjoyed, so plan reading more soon.

I wasn‘t sure I‘d like it with all the references to sports, but I did. And there were a lot. But the mystery and what happened to Kathy kept me interested. And even the sports negotiations were interesting – or, what was happening around those negotiations was interesting. I liked Jessica and her relationship with Myron; not too sure about Myron‘s friend, Win – he‘s a bit scary!

RamsFan1963 For me, Win was always my favorite part of the series. 10mo
LibraryCin @RamsFan1963 I'm curious now how or if he'll change over the course of the series. 10mo

Harlan Coben 💙 I love all of his books. The Myron Bolitar books are my favorite. Myron & Win will always be a favorite literary duo of mine.

Think up the most absurd plot you can and Coben always goes a step further!
#serieslove2023 9/11 in this series.

Andrew65 A favourite series that can always make me smile and laugh, I wish he‘d write some more in the series. Well done 👏👏👏 1y
TheSpineView Another series I hope to get to at some point 1y

This isn‘t my favorite Myron Bolitar, but it is the first in this fantastic series. It introduced me to Myron & Win and their amazing friendship as well as a great, quirky cast of characters.
Harlan Coben is a must read author for me.

Just when you think you‘ve got it solved. Massive plot twist out of nowhere and one of those wtf/how did that happen moments.
Another great outing with Myron 😁

Cinfhen I can‘t remember each Myron story but I know what to expect… being entertained!!! 2y
Read4life Absolutely love Myron! 💙 2y
RaeLovesToRead This was my first ever Harlan Coben and the book that got me back into reading as an adult! 🥰 2y

TrishB @Cinfhen I‘m always like- you‘re not getting me this time! And the plot twist is always out of the blue! As you say you know what you‘re getting and it‘s entertaining 😁 2y
TrishB @Read4life me too ♥️ 2y
TrishB @RaeLovesToRead oh that‘s cool (saying nothing about your first one being the 8th in the series…) 2y
RaeLovesToRead Haha, I was poorly and on the sofa with nothing to do and this book just happened to be nearby! If it hadn't been so incredibly absorbing, I might not even be a Litten 🤯 I might have an entirely different obsession! 😱😱😱 2y
TrishB @RaeLovesToRead his books are generally really absorbing! 2y

Thanks for the tag @Yuki_Onna 💕

1) Of course 😊
2) Done
3) It's got to be Harlan Coben. I'm getting wiser to his tactics now, but the amount of times he has blown my mind in the past... especially when I was a relative newbie to the mystery genre!

I'm going to be 👀 peeking at everyone else's answers... I love to be taken by surprise and have my assumptions smashed 😀

BookmarkTavern I love looking at everybody‘s answers too! It makes my TBR grow but I have no regrets. Thanks for posting! 💚 2y
RaeLovesToRead @ozma.of.oz I miss those early days of reading where I could genuinely be taken unawares by a twist. Even Scooby Doo used to get me! 😆 2y
Yuki_Onna You are so welcome! 🥰💕
And so spot on! The sweet early days of reading when everything surprised you...😊
I really must check out Harlan! 📚
2y
RaeLovesToRead @Yuki_Onna Start with something like The Woods or Tell No One (standalones)... if you like them then try the Myron Bolitar series. I'm very fond of them 😋 2y

I thought this was the most straightforward Coben thriller, until the last 25% and then I got whiplash with all the twists.
Good to be back with Myron, Win and Esperanza 😁

I will be so glad when this word disappears from every day conversation in books (and anywhere else!).

Lindy I just finished reading a book that has me thinking about ableist language: 2y
squirrelbrain 😡 That‘s the word that Lizzo had to change isn‘t it? 2y
TrishB @Lindy that sounds interesting- I‘ll keep an eye out for your review. 2y

TrishB @squirrelbrain yes- aside from the fact that she used it, I thought she handled it really well and immediately addressed the backlash. But in 2022 why are people still using it? This book was published 2000, but the Lizzo example shows we haven‘t made a lot of progress yet. 2y
AmyG That‘s from childhood. People still use it? 2y
BarbaraBB It‘s a horrible word indeed. 2y
julesG 🤬 I'm pretty sure the German equivalent is still in use, mainly by the older generations, too. 2y
BookBr 😒 2y
Cathythoughts Hate that word 👍🏻 2y
squirrelbrain I agree, she immediately held her hands up and apologised, and it did sound like a genuine heartfelt apology. 2y
TrishB @AmyG I always think that- but it‘s still out there. 2y
