Absolutely loved Nowhere Boy. A forged friendship of two boys, one of whom is a Syrian refugee all alone in Belgium amid the 2015 terrorist attacks in France. Tropical Secrets, a more lyrical narrative, highlights a friendship of a Cuban girl and Jewish refugee while the island experiences turbulent times of WWII. #middlegrademarch #MGMarch

pickThis is a light pick for me and seemed to suffer like many middle books of a series. Our skeleton bard is still on the hunt to find out who he is and he's still accompanied by his trusty companion, the gelatinous goo. The new characters we meet here aren't as charming or cute as in Vol 1. The artwork continues to be amazing and we moved toward our goal.

This was a light pick for me, but might be better for the intended MG kids. We follow 4 kids through a candymaking competition with layers of the day including through each kid's POV. This isn't just marshmallow fluff, though. These kids are dealing with some real life issues and ⬇️
