I made a mistake and was expecting a thrilling book. I am fine with cozy mysteries but this book wasn't tagged as one so it was confusing. I guessed the guilty immediately so there was no surprise for me so it was a bit shame.

The Snowdonia Killings | Simon McCleave

I loved this book #ChristmasBuddyReadathon. Some great characters, with great plot lines and good fun trying to work out what was going on. Unusual but I actually guessed the killer from not much more than halfway into the book, but not the full reasoning for it. A great style of writing that makes it easy reading, and plenty of questions to answer in the future books in the series. Just one blot for me, Ruth continually smoking, not needed IMHO.

This is a book about Nora Bridges and her two daughters, Caroline and Ruby, and their mother/daughter relationships. It tells about the situations in the past that separated them and the healing and forgiveness that allowed them to move forward. It is a heartbreaking story so if you read it, don‘t forget the tissues. A Kristin Hannah winner!

This was a very good start to a series. The author is a good writer and I love 💕 the complex-flawed characters of Ruth and Nick. The premise of the murders was interesting and I didn‘t guess the murderer. The only criticism is that there were too many twists in the end which seemed to make the book drag a bit. I will move on to the 2nd book as I want to see what happens next.

Tove_Reads I really liked it too! Agree that the ending was a bit unbalanced. Was also annoyed with how much was written about Nick‘s drinking problem. We get it - he has a big drinking problem! Otherwise it got me hooked. 2y

Have started the first book in the DI Ruth Hunter Series by Simon McCleave.
These are set in Rural North Wales after Ruth relocates to North Wales from London. Someone has just murdered a Deputy Head! 😳

Tove_Reads Just bought the second in the series. I liked it. A few rough edges that I think will be ironed out in future books, but a really good start! 2y

Andrew65 @Tove_Reads It looks like the first book he wrote. Quite bizarre really, Fantastic Fiction shows he had 14 books published in 2020 and 2021, none before that. Seems strange. @EadieB 2y

Tove_Reads Well, I think this is one of these things… Angela Marsons wrote for 20 years before her books were chosen. Publishing really is an odd world. Maybe that could be your new carrier? 2y

He worked on films such as 'The Full Monty' and television series such as the BBC Crime Drama 'Between The Lines 2y

EadieB Simon then became a script writer for television and film. He wrote on series such as Silent Witness, Murder In Suburbia, Teachers, Attachments, The Bill, Eastenders and many more. His film, 'Out of the Game' for Channel 4 was critically acclaimed - 'An unflinching portrayal of male friendship.' (Time Out) 2y

EadieB Simon is currently in negotiations to make the Ruth Hunter books into a television series. 2y
