JackOBotts My 5yo picked this as her “picture walk” book when we played school yesterday. I love Ferdinand…personally, this reminds me of being in 1st Grade. 💜 10mo

#MarchMagic Day 23: This is my #FavoriteClassic children‘s book. While the other bulls are scrambling all over each other to be picked for the bull fights in Madrid, Ferdinand couldn‘t really care less. He would amble steadily and slowly, absorbed in his own imaginings. My review here: https://wp.me/pDlzr-5oD

JamieArc I love this one too. I always gift it to friends who are having babies. ❤️ 13mo
Suet624 I‘ve read this so often to my kids and grandkids. Love it. 13mo

Not really. My immigrant mom preferred to tell me oral stories instead of reading. I really enjoyed her version of fairy tale stories.

My earliest memory of reading a book with someone will be at school during small group for EL students. The tagged book was one my favorites.

BookmarkTavern That sounds lovely, getting variations of fairy tales! Thank you for sharing! 13mo

Ferdinand, which my kid is reading in Latin, has Ferdinand leap up from his beloved cork tree, dislodging a cork sapling. Munro/Lawson didn‘t understand how cork trees made cork! But I wish this were a thing.

The illustrations in this book are to die for! A story of a gentle soul who would not be moved to violence.

I used to always get this one and Lambert the Sheepish Lion mixed up when I was a kid. Ferdinand is the sweetest, but I love that he is also hard core when it comes to doing what he wants. So much tougher than going along with the crowd. You sniff your flowers, Ferdinand. Get on with your badass self.

Re-read this classic on my drive back home from LA. This beautiful story with a timeless message never gets old. I never read this as a child (my mom read me mostly korean folktales), but happy I read it when I got older. I‘ll keep coming back to it again and again.

Lady_Tigana_20 One of my childhood favorites. Of course, once I learned what really happens at bullfights, I wasn‘t so jazzed. Even so, I still love Ferdinand. ❤️ 5y

This book is fiction. I would do a choral reading for this book. This story is about a bull that is kind and would rather smell flowers than participate in a bullfight. Everyone sees him as different and not normal. This book is perfect to show students that not everyone is the same and it is okay to be different.

Alexis-Thompson Ferdinand the bull is such a great story! It embraces diversity which is exactly what we need in classrooms. 5y
