Whoa!!!! What an emotional roller coaster this book is!Brutal yet beautiful. I spent the majority of the book with a lump in my throat. My heart is hurting! Secrets always have a way of coming back to haunt you. Why did I not pick this book up sooner? ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What a powerful first chapter. It was so good I read it twice in the beginning, and returned to it once more when I finished the book. It was intriguing, dramatic, and beautifully worded.
Sadly, the rest of the book didn't quite live up to that first chapter.
Up until the incident with Hassan, the story was interesting and reflective, but then it quickly slid into melodrama and predictable plot directions. ⬇️

eeclayton ➡️ I felt that the author tried a bit too hard to make his tale symbolic and haunting but ultimately failed to evoke much empathy in me for his characters.
It's a pity because I really wanted to like this book. The first chapter is one of the best beginnings I've ever read. 2mo

Ruthiella I agree with your review. I‘m glad so many appreciated this book, but for me it was just a litany of bad things happening over and over. It was too much. 2mo

Nantucket Nights: A Novel | Elin Hilderbrand

Well, this was a strange Mrs. Robinson‘ish story. Mikala really does need better friends. I kept reading but didn‘t enjoy it. It was kind of icky. I‘m glad I didn‘t read EH‘s Nantucket books in publication order as this is Book 2 and I might have given up on the author with this effort. I have two more books to read before I can call the EH Nantucket series complete!
