Circle of Days | Ken Follett
6 posts | 3 read | 1 reading | 3 to read
From Ken Follett, the master of epic fiction, comes a rich novel of historical research and imagination, telling the deeply human story of one of the world's greatest mysteries: the building of Stonehenge. A FLINT MINER WITH A GIFT Seft, a talented flint miner, walks the Great Plain in the high summer heat, to witness the rituals that signal the start of a new year. He is there to trade his stone at the Midsummer Rite, and to find Neen, the girl he loves. Her family live in prosperity and offer Seft an escape from his brutish father and brothers, within their herder community. A PRIESTESS WHO BELIEVES THE IMPOSSIBLE Joia, Neen's sister, is a priestess with a vision and an unmatched ability to lead. As a child, she watches the Midsummer ceremony, enthralled, and dreams of a miraculous new monument, raised from the biggest stones in the world. But trouble is brewing among the hills and woodlands of the Great Plain. A MONUMENT THAT WILL DEFINE A CIVILIZATION Joia's vision of a great stone circle, assembled by the divided tribes of the Plain, will inspire Seft and become their life's work. But as drought ravages the earth, mistrust grows between the herders, farmers and woodlanders - and an act of savage violence leads to open warfare...

So excited to be reading Follett‘s newest. He is one of my top favorites. Alternating my physical copy with the audiobook, narrated by the fantastic Richard Armitage. I‘m about 1/4 thru and I expected it to take a few weeks to read because of the size and my experience with other lengthy books of his, but this reads surprisingly fast and I anticipate only taking a few days. I just started it yesterday. #bookmap

Mehso-so

I have read a fair number of Follett‘s books and this one was good but not great for me. For a book about Stonehenge, it wasn‘t Stonehenge-y enough for me. Absolutely loved the audiobook narration by Richard Armitage though. A high so-so, soft pick

Cuilin For a possibly more “Stoneheng-y” read might I suggest 1mo

I‘ve never read a Ken Follett book. I preordered this audiobook from Barnes & Noble during the preorder sale. I didn‘t know Richard Armitage would be narrating the audiobook. I wanted to write a haiku about him.

Richard Armitage
I‘ve heard him narrate a lot of the Agatha Christie books I‘ve read
I like his voice

Wow. I didn‘t know he looked like this
🥰What a handsome man 😍
I‘ll listen to him read anything
