Recently, I've been mourning the loss of an amazing girl I used to know. It's been 8 years or so since I last saw her, and she was only 16 when she killed herself. Such a beautiful, musical, and rambunctious soul. My grief reminded me that working with kids gives me the chance to make a difference in someone's life. It also made me realize how much, even as an introvert, I crave connection with others. And now I'm back on Litsy. I missed you all.

3. Inspector Lewis, Broadchurch, Grantchester, Endeavor (I‘m a bit BBC Mystery obsessed 😬)
4. Maya Angelou (“I‘m a woman / Phenomenally. / Phenomenal woman, / That‘s me.”) ❤️
1. Wannabe by Spice Girls was the #1 hit on my 18th birthday!
3. Tagged, she‘s one of my favorites after seeing her speak at Carnegie Music Hall in Pittsburgh when I was a freshman at Pitt.

I have been traveling across time zones for the last week and even though I brought Maya with me, I‘ve had the hardest time reaching for a poem before my phone. BUT I‘m home now and in the love section of her collection just before Valentine‘s Day. This one is perfection 😍
I struggled picking only two books for the #diverseread challenge of #24in48 but wanted to focus on what I chose. These lovelies have been my go to books when people ask me for recommendations! Stealing Buddha's Dinner gave me a glimpse into a culture that I knew nothing about and made me want more! I discovered Maya Angelou's poetry when I was young in poetry and forever changed and moved by the grace and power of her words! @24in48
Started a new collection this morning! Naturally, Part One is a collection of poems under the theme “Where Love is a Scream of Anguish” so I think I‘m in for some more intense poetry 😂 BUT I read four poems this morning and this one I had some lovely nature imagery.
I did a little rearranging to my poetry/antique books bookshelf. It‘s small, but it‘s one of my favorite bookshelves in our house. ❤️
My complete #thriftbooks order is finally here!! It‘s my first Agatha Christie so I decided to try this one, my boyfriend took my copy of A Little Life so I bought a new one, the poetry books I figured were a must own for so cheap, and Hope Never Dies I just had to buy because I felt too much pressure having it out from the library. This is a splurge I definitely can‘t afford next month even though I am canceling a couple things -Tidal, Marvel ☹️
We lost an extraordinary soul when the world lost Maya Angelou, but she left us a legacy, a body of work that is unforgettable. I have no favorite by her, because so much is well-liked. So many of her words and thoughts are loved.
She will be forever remembered. And now she is forever free!

I don‘t even have words for how much I love her. ❤️
Just did my posting for tomorrow; featuring the late Dr. Angelou. I spent the past hour or so watching videos of her speaking on love, God, forgiveness etc. The world did not know what to do with such grace, poise and fierce wisdom. Dr. Angelou was a powerhouse! #womenist #mayaangelou #women #blackwomen
Too many women have a #devilinside. An e-mail from the Friday poem from Picador Books and Maya Angelou reminded me, that women are phenomenal, strong and amazing! 💪💪
To all the wonderful women out there, you do you, you be phenomenal!
