A disappearance and a dead body put Cork OConnors family in the crosshairs of a killer in the twentieth book in the New York Times bestselling series from William Kent Krueger, a master storyteller at the top of his game (Kristin Hannah, #1 New York Times bestselling author). The disappearance of a local politicians teenaged daughter is major news in Minnesota. As a huge manhunt is launched to find her, Cork OConnors grandson stumbles across the shallow grave of a young Ojibwe womanbut nobody seems that interested. Nobody, that is, except Cork and the newly formed Iron Lake Ojibwe Tribal Police. As Cork and the tribal officers dig into the circumstances of this mysterious and grim discovery, they uncover a connection to the missing teenager. And soon, its clear that Corks grandson is in danger of being the killers next victim.

Book 20 in the Cork O‘Connor series. The setting in Minnesota. The characters are interesting. There are missing girls. The difference between white versus Native Americans missing are handled in totally separate ways. It‘s hard to understand why, girls are girls. This novel touches on sex trafficking during the building of an oil pipeline. Indigenous people play huge roles in this story. 4/5⭐️

Book 20 of the Cork O‘Connor series: I‘ve so enjoyed these books over the last 2 years and the characters of Cork, his children Annie, Jenny and Steven, his SIL Daniel and 7 yo grandson Waboo, and Henry Melou, the very old spiritual guide. Steven and Waboo have the ‘vision‘ gift, and it‘s Waboo‘s visions that generate the plot and action within.

An excellent book by one of my favorite authors. If you read it please read the Author's Notes. A lot of good info there.

Brrr it‘s chilly in WI but a great day to read in sweats on the deck. Finished a NetGalley read - tagged. I need to marinate on this for a bit, but I really enjoyed this. I have only read a few Cork O‘Connor mysteries, so I have a nice backlog to look forward to.

dabbe Chilly? Sweats? Can I live vicariously through you? 😂😂😂 1y

peaKnit @dabbe @Avanders we may need to swap houses! lol! It‘s supposed to be sunny and 80 here tomorrow, so I feel redemption coming…for one day. We have had unprecedented rain and tornados. 👎🏻 1y
