Not so cozy, a cozy- too much violence people getting shot, beat up
The setting is great, small town bookstore, whose owner is murdered. The MC Jen, a celebrated mystery author, resolves to investigate her boss‘s murder. Along the way she makes some bad choices, often putting herself in danger. What follows is a complicated story involving many suspects. Some well drawn characters. Between a pick & a so-so.

At I am at various reading stages with these books. The Teachers - I just finished reading the October chapter. Each chapter is one month in the school calendar year.#teachersoflitsy
Watson‘s Choice-#goldenagecrimeclub
The Shop on Royal Street- #audio

I hope to nimble at these.

Cinfhen The teachers book sounds so interesting 6mo
kspenmoll @Cinfhen It is moving. It tells the truth about teachers‘ compassion & empathy for their students, the lack of resources, & how parents now often treat teachers. I wish parents, government officials & others would read it. 6mo

The first in the series, but backstory was mentioned in a way as to suggest at least one previous book? Our MC stumbles her way to the murderer while constantly throwing herself into danger and continually making all the wrong decisions. Some red herrings and an easily guessed murderer, but they may have set it up so you guessed the murderer right from the beginning?
