A good story but nothing that really wowed me. It needed to be about 75 pages shorter. The drawn out and repetitive training sequences just didn‘t work for me. However I thought the worldbuilding was good. The religious element seemed a bit confusing at times but I‘m thinking it‘s meant to be that way. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

An interesting fantasy read with mythological & religious influence. High stakes narrative with a strong female protagonist & flavors of Black Sun & In a Garden Burning Gold. The world building can be a little info dumpy, resulting in diluted atmospheric content, but the plot is interesting & tense. Lovers of the grump/sunshine trope will enjoy the character banter between Alessa & Dante. An enjoyable debut.

Loved this Italian-adjacent YA romantic fantasy that features a girl trying to harness her powers to save her island and its people from invasion by demons. The world building is believable, the heroine is sympathetic, and the love interest with the dark secret is hot. I loved the growth of many of the characters and the ending was so great that I made myself late for making the Thanksgiving Day stuffing just to finish. I‘m ready for book 2!

Thanksgiving PTO activity #1, waiting for Serena the Sentra to get inspected. With a book, of course!

Aims42 My previous car was Sonya the Sentra 🥹 She must‘ve been a Florida transplant in Illinois (where I live) because if it was colder than 20 degrees she wouldn‘t start 🙄 1y
LeafingThroughLife @Aims42 Aw, poor Sonya Sentra. That‘s a tough transition. I don‘t like the cold much myself, so I can probably relate haha 🥶 1y

I really loved Alessa - I could relate to her. And how much I loved Dante then! He was so endearing and I loved banter between Alessa & Dante. Secondary characters weren't likewise fleshed out, and that was a shame.

Atmosphere was amazing, I loved it so much. The world was interesting but there should have been a bit more worldbuilding, some things were left unexplained.

This was really entertaining and fun book.

I am not a YA reader but the reviews lured me in on this one and unfortunately it has a lot of the characteristics that have turned me off from young adult or new adult literature—underdeveloped characters, flat tropey romance, anachronistic language. My favorite part was the Italian proverbs and background. Just not for me!

I received a book I preordered from Barnes & Noble but this is my replacement copy. I‘m looking forward to reading this. I didn‘t receive my other copy of the book so I called Customer Service and told them that I didn‘t receive my book and I got my replacement copy today.

Not only is this Fairyloot exclusive version of this book amazingly pretty, but it‘s also amazingly good. I giggled, I frowned, I cried. I was thoroughly outraged. And I am pretty sure I finished this book in just over an hour. I think I‘m out of my reading slump now! I cannot give enough stars ✨

Oh my gosh, I need the next one! This was such a great and fun read. I always have a love hate with YA fantasy, but I just rushed through this and couldn‘t stop reading. There was some small quibbles, like pacing and wanting more on the side characters, but great debut!

Wow. I suspected from the moment I picked this up that I would love it, and I did. So much so that I read it in one sitting 😅 I loved the world, the plot, the characters, and it made me cry like, 10 times. 5 stars 🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋

If you love magic, chosen ones, romance, and found family, I recommend this wholeheartedly.

This Vicious Grace the first book in The Last Finestra series is a dark and twisty thriller with a little yummy romance sprinkled in. Emily Thiede‘s Italian-inspired debut won‘t let you down.
