The Undiscovered Deaths of Grace McGill
The Undiscovered Deaths of Grace McGill: The must-read, incredible voice-driven mystery thriller | C.S. Robertson
8 posts | 4 read | 7 to read
'[A] Gut-wrenching thriller. There are jaw-dropping revelations and startling assertions in C.S. Robertson's gruesome tale' THE TIMES 'A dark, disturbing and highly original thriller' MARK BILLINGHAM 'Haunting, twisted and compelling' C.L. TAYLOR 'Twisted, twisting, original and sinister. The Undiscovered Deaths of Grace McGill is unforgettable' CHRIS WHITAKER 'Dark and quirky - there's just something readers are going to love about meeting Grace McGill' SCOTTISH SUN 'One of the highlights of my reading year. A deliciously dark masterpiece' HELEN FITZGERALD DEATH IS NOT THE END. FOR GRACE McGILL IT IS ONLY THE BEGINNING. When people die alone and undiscovered, it's her job to clean up what's left behind - whether it's clutter, bodily remains or dark secrets. When an old man lies undetected in his flat for months, it seems an unremarkable life and an unnoticed death. But Grace knows that everyone has a story and that all deaths mean something more. A STAND-OUT NOVEL WITH A UNIQUE NARRATIVE VOICE AND AN UNGUESSABLE MYSTERY, YOU ARE GUARANTEED TO REMEMBER GRACE McGILL. Reader praise for The Undiscovered Deaths of Grace McGill: 'A twisted story of undiscovered deaths and twisted minds, of people of little or no morality and Grace right in the thick of it, setting records straight and doing good in her own inimitable way' 'Wow! What an absolute stunner of a book. This was so different to a lot of the books out there at the moment. Totally gripping and thrilling and I couldn't stop reading it although I really didn't want to finish it!' 'A premise that, gratifyingly, delivers the goods in spades and does so with a superbly well drawn cast of characters and a rather unique, well written, often dark narrative. Compelling and wholly engaging reading. Top notch' 'The story was engrossing and I couldn't wait to see where it would go. I highly recommend this' 'A masterpiece'

18/23 This book was just ok. It had me gripped to begin with but lost me by the end. The premise was interesting but none of it felt realistic. There were a lot of abusive male characters but they were all portrayed the same which felt strange. I don‘t think I will bother to read more by this author.

This was an interesting read. Grace is not an overly likeable character but I think that really fits with the story as it leaves you questioning everything. By the end you're not sure if you can relate to her or if she just went too far. The plot is a slow and steady one. The ending was good if a little predictable. I had figured out her role and how the story would end but I think it really worked. #Netgalley 3*

Set in Glasgow, the story of Grace McGill, who cleans the homes of dead people who have not been discovered for a long time after their deaths. Who cares about them ? An unusual MC , full of surprises.. I went down some internal rabbit hole with Grace trying to understand how she works. She‘s very honest ( with the reader). Strange book and very readable. There are some interesting details in the book that will stay with me.

CarolynM Book sounds interesting and I love your mug😍 2y

Tamra Have fun at the movies! It felt strange the first time I went back. Hardly a soul there! 2y
Eggs A lovely day ahead 👏🏻👏🏻 2y
Cathythoughts @CarolynM Carolyn, Belfast was really good. I never knew Kenneth Branagh was from Belfast. He said in an interview on The Late Late Show here ‘ It took a hell of a long time to come back and shake hands with the lad who left when he was 9‘. He did a wonderful job making this movie ..it felt like a real slice of life from that time. I really enjoyed his childhood story ❤️ 2y
CarolynM Glad you enjoyed. It's playing at my local cinema at the moment. I think we will have to go🙂 2y
Cathythoughts @CarolynM Very good ! I‘d love to hear what you think of it 👍❤️ 2y

This was a really interesting (but odd—in a good way) novel! Grace‘s job is to “clean” homes where a person (usually elderly) has died and gone undiscovered for weeks or months. She becomes curious when she finds similarities and digs into several of their pasts. But she too has some dark secrets and that‘s what makes this chillingly readable!
