A smash debut novel from rising star Yasmin Angoe, Her Name Is Knight features an elite assassin heroine on a mission to topple a human trafficking ring and avenge her family. Stolen from her Ghanaian village as a child, Nena Knight has plenty of motives to kill. Now an elite assassin for a powerful business syndicate called the Tribe, she gets plenty of chances. But while on assignment in Miami, Nena ends up saving a life, not taking one. She emerges from the experience a changed woman, finally hopeful for a life beyond rage and revenge. Tasked with killing a man she's come to respect, Nena struggles to reconcile her loyalty to the Tribe with her new purpose. Meanwhile, she learns a new Tribe council member is the same man who razed her village, murdered her family, and sold her into captivity. Nena can't resist the temptation of vengeance--and she doesn't want to. Before she can reclaim her life, she must leverage everything she was and everything she is to take him down and end the cycle of bloodshed for good.

#SeriesLove2023 @TheSpineView @Andrew65

Going in I really had no clue what this book was about. I didn't read the cover flap, or look up reviews, I simply picked it up because a friend mentioned wanting to read it.

I love that the author starts with a trigger warning page complete with resources for people. Although there are a lot of TWs, this book is still absolutely amazing. The main character is a badass female assassin. Need I say more? 😉

This is probably my favorite thriller series about a woman raised in Africa who eventually becomes an assassin hell bent on taking revenge on those who abused her. Check trigger warnings for this one but definitely give it a read!

AMAZING! I‘m trying to figure out how it only has a 75% rating. This book was epic. I guess it‘s not everyone‘s cup of tea and it is an emotionally tough read. There is a lot of violence and it involves human trafficking. That being said, it is incredibly well written and so hard to put down. Okay not hard to put down because I did have to break up some of it. It sucks you right in and compels you to k ow what happens next! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Surprise is a luxury you can‘t always afford.”

Nena, AKA Echo is a trained assassin out for blood to avenge her Ghanaian tribe. She has experienced unimaginable trauma and needs to rectify the wrongs done to her family.

This debut Legacy is important and If you don‘t fight for it, who will? What we experience in childhood runs deep within for years to come and shape who we become. Nena has to be one of the best heroines I‘ve come across!

Nena is kidnapped from her village in #Ghana and sold into modern slavery. She escapes and is saved from homelessness on the streets of Paris by the wealthy Knight family. She becomes an assassin in the Knight family business when she has an unexpected opportunity for revenge. Book 1 in a series. Very readable but sadly I learned practically nothing about Ghana even though the author‘s only one generation removed from there. #readingAfrica2022

Librarybelle I love the bright orange on the cover! It‘s a shame there is not much about Ghana in the book, but it sounds like a very interesting book. 2y

Reading update 3 for the #sharreadreadathon:

This book jumps timelines. In the earlier timeline the main character Nena is learning/perfecting her assignation skills. In the present, she‘s teaching a high school girl serious self defense (because Nena happened to put her in harm‘s way).

That‘s a new way to spell lounge! Unless the chaise chair has a little tongue. Oops

KathyWheeler I was startled the first time I saw this spelling. This is its history. https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/chaise-lounge-or-chaise-longue 2y

rwmg I don't remember having seen chaise lounge before, only chaise longue. Maybe it's also a US/UK difference?

BoleyBooks My editor went round and round with me on this exact issue. I just knew people would think it was a misspell. 2y
Jess_Read_This The middlebrow bookclub I‘m in read this tagged one. I was constantly double checking my comments because in my head I was calling it “lounge” too! (edited) 2y

A lot of trigger warnings from the author. She also includes links to numerous resources. I‘m hoping for some serious revenge taken on behalf of all those subjected to human trafficking. #readingafrica2022 #Ghana @BarbaraBB @Librarybelle
