I‘ve been a fan of Selma‘s since Cruel Intentions/Legally Blonde days. This book is a look inside her private life, her dark and sometimes harsh upbringing helped me understand why she has been able to use the arts as a coping mechanism
TW : Neglect, alcohol abuse, depression. I went into this book blind and found myself down so many rabbit holes of discovery. What we experience as children really does play a part in how we turn out as adults.

Leah is vulnerable, honest, and unapologetic about her part in her role as a dedicated member, concerned friend, and activist for justice and freedom. I love her as an actress and her ability to speak out against injustices. This book is full of unpleasant and shocking revelations, but it is her point of view of her reality she lived for so long. I‘ve been a fan of Leah‘s to see her maturity using her celebrity status for good is commendable.

Representing their Mexican heritage, and finding the love they each deserve in a partner are issues that plague them.
I felt like I was reading Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants meets Real Women Have Curves as these women tell their individual stories of searching. When I picked this book as a First Reads pick I didn‘t anticipate the love of this book that I found. Each woman has a specific trait that each woman can relate to.

Julia and Rocco are trying not to let pleasure interfere with business as Rocco is after her job while feelings arise. This enemies to lovers trope is laugh out loud funny while also tugging at the heart. Julia cannot take another let down after being dumped and left to pay all of the bills, she needs this job and not even a handsome face will jeopardize that. The deep family roots I enjoyed in this book !

This story of these two families at odds was so entertaining and rich in detail and culture. As a little girl growing up in Texas, the setting felt very much like home. The love of family, the pride and strength was evident. The flow of this generational dispute and the need to care and love for family was both familiar and realistic. Pride has the ability to make contentious issues that are not necessary. #latinxheritagemonth

Arranged Marriage.
Enemies to lovers.
Loss of a parent.
Black female author.

Naima Simone‘s Vows in Name Only was a head over heels fall in love book. Each layer, each backstory is different. Unpacking pieces of pain, betrayal, while being forced to A: go into business with strangers to salvage an inheritance, and B: Marry a complete stranger who you don‘t trust . This Harlequin series is perfection 💋🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Brielle is a New Yorker content with life until she receives the news that her Paternal grandfather is not only sick, but an African King in need of her to assume the role as Queen in the event he passes.
Marriage is the stipulation of her ruling this country, which means arranged marriage. This book gave very much Princess Diaries vibes. Charming and sweet as she navigates this new responsibility with grace and faith.

🎧💋All throughout this book I was on the edge of my seat, the multiple characters involved in this ultra taboo was intense and exciting!! I ate this up with a spoon The narrators placed us the readers right there in the room and I was here for it!! Conflicting feelings about the state of her marriage has Charlotte succumbing to finding comfort and recognition with Dr Montgomery…… in for a dangerously messy ride - all‘s fair in love and war.

Naomi Queen swore to herself she‘d never get involved with criminals. She didn‘t want any part of the world that raised her because she knew the trouble the malicious underground could bring. But all that changes when she witnesses a murder between a gang of mermen shifters.
From the first page my wheels were turning, fully entertained and pulled into this fictional world. Caribbean Paranormal PREPARE YOURSELF, HOLD ON FOR THE RIDE

Amy has ripped my insides out once again!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️😭😭😭😭😭 When you read a book that is forever embedded in you, you don‘t just walk away from it unscathed. Faith is put to the test, friendships are on the line, and the value of family is in the forefront. This quiet story was full of compassion, the search of pride, definition of beauty, and what a strong community looks like. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟+

This book is definitely going down as one of my favorites ! Romance. Betrayal. Humor. Heart- felt emotional baggage. Heavy on family oriented. Zora and Cyrus‘s attraction and chemistry is so natural and fun to see. They shouldn‘t be together for many conflicts of interest, but also cannot deny the possibility of something more. Both business oriented, family oriented, and in search of a picture perfect future. What does that look like though?

Nadiasbookishworld86 “There‘s a warm peace that settles in my bones. A sense of safety. Beyond those brick walls, there‘s no arguing, shouting, or threats. There‘s no walking on eggshells or waiting for the proverbial shoe to drop. This picturesque Craftsman bungalow with its swing on the front porch is my haven.”❤️ 2y

Novella perfection .This book is the entry of this series and I am loving it so far! Bridge is the protector, man with a hard edge. Emma is the sister of his best friend. Bridge‘s story is so deep and complex! His past haunts him and what If Emma is the key to making him forget and heal? Nana Malone brings suspense, adrenaline, and heat every single time!!!!!

Kamilah and Liam are childhood frenemies whose future family businesses are in their hands .Both grandfathers come up with a plan of marriage for them refuse and they lose their life‘s work.

The closeness of family values, the multi generational community was so endearing! The banter between the grandchildren and grandfathers was sweet, comical, and so authentic! What the reader experiences reading this is an inclusion at the dining room table.

“Surprise is a luxury you can‘t always afford.”

Nena, AKA Echo is a trained assassin out for blood to avenge her Ghanaian tribe. She has experienced unimaginable trauma and needs to rectify the wrongs done to her family.

This debut Legacy is important and If you don‘t fight for it, who will? What we experience in childhood runs deep within for years to come and shape who we become. Nena has to be one of the best heroines I‘ve come across!

The journey of this complicated father and daughter relationship was filled with resentment, confusion, having those difficult conversations about the past , and the power of forgiveness . Calla adjusting to small town life, taken out of her comfort zone and being coupled with grumpy but attractive Jonah ALWAYS around , made this story so heartwarming! I bawled my eyes out throughout this book!

mybookishaffair This book blew me away. And I cried so hard over Wren. I haven‘t picked up the second book yet. I love Jonah and Calla though… I think I am still traumatized a bit - I didn‘t expect the level of emotion. ♥️♥️ 2y

Both abandoned and lost, each are on a search for belonging and unconditional family. A tribe that will lay down their life for you .I cannot even put into proper words how deeply this book ran.

I'm interested in the stories lost in the crevices of history.

Canon and Neevah's love affair in this story pulls on every. heart string available. A love and attraction that is undeniable and yet somewhat forbidden, makes for a beautiful and beloved journey. As these two study each other as well as the characters on the page in this production, two things are apparent: talent cannot be taught and love cannot be forced.
