Mehso-so

My local sub for Applachian Noir in #booked2021 #booked2021 - crime fiction set not too far from The Eureka Stockade, flawed MC who makes bad decisions, and a fair body count.

Sadly this was less engaging for me than her previous Caleb Zelic books. Motivations were obscure, Caleb makes terrible decisions, and the pacing was off. Still a great portrayal of a Deaf character though.

Cinfhen Sorry this one didn‘t deliver like previous books in the series but at least it fulfilled a prompt 😜 3y
Lauredhel @Cinfhen yep! And I didn‘t get nothing out of it, it just wasn‘t as good as the others. I have only one prompt to go for this set- which is good because we are just starting Djilba here (first spring). 3y

I love how much of an image Viskic can evoke with just a few words. You know exactly what this building looks like, how old it is, even the figures and faces of the boys, and their slouching posture, gets filled in by your brain.

This crime novel is going to sub in for Appalachian Noir in my #booked2021 challenge. It's the closest local equivalent on my TBR.

Bookzombie I should be getting to this one soon. I really enjoy this series. 3y
Lauredhel @Bookzombie I found this one started a bit slower, but since I already know and like the characters I'm happy to just noodle along. The Deaf rep is terrific and pragmatic, not over dramatised etc 3y
