#1 New York Times bestselling author Joe Hill asks, "With a cursed Viking axe, what can you accomplish?" and June Branch is ready to answer! June Branch visits her boyfriend, Liam, on Brody Island for a relaxing last weekend of summer. After an escaped group of criminals breaks into the house that June and Liam are watching, Liam is taken by them. June grabs a strange Viking axe and flees from the intruders. When one of the attackers finds her, she swings the axe and takes off his head, which rolls away and begins to babble in terror. For June to uncover the truth, she'll need to hear the facts straight from the mouths of her attackers, with...or without their bodies attached. Collects issues #1-7.

05/150 Well, this was pretty much was I expected from something called Basketful of Heads 🤣 Violent, intense, and graphically bloody. Probably not for everyone, but there's a good mystery story surrounded by all the blood and severed heads. 3 ⭐⭐⭐💫

This collects the entire miniseries, which launched Hill House Comics, presented by Joe Hill. I was expecting some good storytelling, but this exceeded my expectations. What a thrilling, grotesque ride! The cover art is stunning. I'll definitely be checking out more titles from this line.

Aaaand that's my #bookspin pick done for July.

After an escaped group of criminals breaks into the house that June and Liam are watching, Liam is taken by them. June grabs a strange Viking axe & flees. When she uses the axe to defend herself, she decapitates the man but his head lives and talks. Soon she will learn a lot of secrets about the residents of Brody Island as she carries an increasingly full basket of talking heads and her axe. A fun, gruesome, macabre story full of twists & humor.

Basketful of Heads is a horror graphic novel about a young woman that just wants to spend the weekend with her boyfriend, but ends up fighting for her life. It was dark, it was gritty, it was intense, and it was such a fun read!

Got sidetracked and read Basketful of Heads tonight. Excellent! Escaped convicts, an ancient and magical Viking axe, murder, robbery, and a basketful of heads! I love Joe Hill, but the artwork in this graphic novel is next level. So beautiful to read.

1.) Breasts and Eggs by Mieko Kawakami
2.) Basketful of Heads by Joe Hill, illustrated by Leomacs--such cool art! Loved ending the year with a badass heroine.
3.) I set my Goodreads at 100 for this year--a little lower than last year but I'm hoping to knock out some honkers this year including 1Q84 for the “longest book on my TBR“ #PopSugarChallenge prompt

Well, damn. This is extreme story of "girl power". Gruesome, yet hilarious.

Guess I can‘t let #scarathlon go... honestly I meant to read this then, but ran out of time. Creepy horror comic about a girl and her boyfriend who get caught up against some escapes convicts. When she fights back with an old Viking ace, she decapitates the men, but their heads keep talking! #bookspinbingo

So good!

This graphic novel is bloody gorey goodness with a story that is unique and artwork that brings every word to life. Escaped prisoners, missing money, and a Viking hatchet are just some of what goes on in this series. And I love that the girl in this story doesn't need to be rescued by a man.

Burning through Birthday gift cards .... A Basketful of Heads by Joe Hill (graphic novel), a yearly planner that starts September 2020, I love a lot of Marie Lu & I‘m Batman so couldn‘t keep walking by her Batman novel and last but not least the full series of Stein‘s Gate (anime) because I love the English voice of Sebastian Michaelis so I‘m looking forward to binge watching this!

4.5 🌟
Joe Hill has taken up his father‘s torch in the horror genre but also made it his own by going the way of graphic novels. This mystery is full of blood and guts and the big question is, who is telling the truth. Plus all the talking heads in the basket…This was a disgustingly fun read. I bet it eventually gets optioned for TV or movie. If you like horror and graphic novels you are sure to like this book.
