I was completely enthralled with this story. The characters were so alive. So much heartbreak, but it oddly didn‘t make me sad. A sorry about a life well lived.

The editing on the other hand…. Not great. #lmpbc

Crazeedi Sounds like an interesting book 2y

Read him two Halloween stories and then snuggled for quiet time. Just put him down- hoping he can breathe well enough to stay in his crib tonight- this mama needs a full night of sleep in a bed! Ears and sinuses as suspected.

JenReadsAlot Hugs friend! 2y
DGRachel I hope he feels better soon and that you can get some rest, too! 2y
Avanders Aww ♥️🥰🤗 Hope all are sleeping well! 2y

BethM @JenReadsAlot @DGRachel @Avanders @Crazeedi thanks friends! Antibiotic is helping but slowly. He mad it until 3am today so that‘s progress. 2y
Crazeedi @BethM so I hope that means you got a little rest. I remember the ear problems I had with my youngest, it's the worse kind of illness for little ones 2y
BethM @Crazeedi yeah 930-3 so better than before. I feel so bad bc nothing I‘m doing is making it better and he‘s just not getting over it as quickly as he has other colds. (edited) 2y
Crazeedi @BethM he may end up needing tubes, my daughter had to have them like 2 or 3 times 2y
BethM @Crazeedi I hope not. This is only the second time he‘s had ear issues and he‘ll be one in a few weeks. But this time is ROUGH and not quick to vacate the premises. (edited) 2y
Avanders I‘m glad to hear he‘s doing a little better… it‘s so hard when they‘re so little !! 🥺🥺🥺 2y
Crazeedi @BethM I think my Stephie was 18 months when she got her first, she ran horribly high fever, I'll pray for your son, that he gets better and stays earache free!! 2y
BethM @Crazeedi thanks! 2y

This isn‘t usually a book I would reach for, but I gave it a try and found it charming. I was truly sucked in by the halfway point and didn‘t want to put it down. It‘s a tad saccharine in places, though less so than I anticipated, and the copy editing is dreadful, but it was an enjoyable read.

I enjoyed this book, but am not sure it was the best pick from #LMPBC because there wasn‘t much to discuss. So great book, wrong forum. Interested to see what my other group A friends think. I‘ll put this in the mail sometime this week.

I was completely absorbed in this tale – it was so good! It‘s one of those that leaves you with such a bittersweet feeling at the end, because the story was so enjoyable, but you‘re heartbroken that it‘s come to an end.

According to the author this novel was inspired by Mary Ellis, one of the original “spitfire girls” who to piloted British planes during World War II.The historical aspect of this novel fascinated me as I knew nothing about these women. The backdrop of early World War II, it‘s effect on ordinary people‘s lives and on those in service capacities lends an authenticity to the novel.see link below. kspenmoll The detailed, sensory descriptions of the Cornwall‘s coast enabled me to envision its cliffs, rocks, sand, fog, waters & smell its seaweed & salt air. Juliet Caron is a complex character who flew in her family‘s Flying Circus at a young age- Perfect training to be a Spitfire fire girl. Add romance,Intrigue espionage, poetry, family, and friendship, & you have an enjoyable read. 4y
kspenmoll A generation later,Katherine comes to Juliet‘s empty cottage .She becomes immersed in her life story through letters and memoirs she finds in various parts of the house. 4y
kspenmoll There are some editing issues but if you can ignore grammatical errors, do. (edited) 4y

Making this a spoiler post in case anyone else does this subscription and hasn‘t finished yet. These are the gifts that came with my book. They really helped bring the book to life.

Daisey Thanks for sharing. I‘ve seen this subscription and wondered what kinds of things come with the book. It sounds like a great premise for a book box. 4y
CocoReads @Daisey my oldest has been getting this for a year and she‘s rarely been disappointed, so I thought I‘d give it a try as well to force me out of my comfort zone. It‘s only been one month, but I‘m looking forward to next months already! 4y

I actually finished it last night but was too tired to post. It was my first book box book and I loved the gifts (spoiler post to follow). Anyway, I don‘t read a lot of WWII books. I always like them when I read them but I have trouble making myself read them. This was inspired by a real spitfire girl and I was fascinated to read about Cornwall during the war.

This book will make you cry, just a heads up. But good, fuzzy tears of happiness. This story covers the lives and great loves of two women from two different eras, bonded by a community.
My only complaint was this book had more typos/grammatical errors than normal. But it really didn't take away from the story.
