I enjoyed listening to the lovely, British-toned voice of Sian Clifford as she narrated the story of Olive. With her clipped vowels, and tony modulation, it was easy to pay attention to the story – and even learn some new slang words and UK-ish phrases!

Band of Sisters stands out in the crowd of 20th Century-based, historical war fiction. Excellently researched and solidly told, Sisters is chock-full of believable characters, each with their own personality, and from varying backgrounds.

A charming tale of love, the love of baseball, and the heretofore unnamed and temperamental gods of the game. A story so richly told, you‘ll frequently forget its fiction.

I really liked this story! The near-future setting in a world post-election and post-COVID is fascinating – not too “out there” as it‘s not too far in the future, but definitely different than the world we‘re living in today. I very much enjoyed exploring that reality for a few days while I savored Forget Me Not.

Enjoyable enough to finish, but that‘s about it. There were a couple of “surprises” in the novel, but they fell a bit flat. And somehow, rather than foreshadowing leading to a satisfying turn of events, I was often left wondering why something wasn‘t resolved, only later to have the t‘s crossed and i‘s dotted.

A fascinating tale in near-future Paris, de Rosnay brings the sense of place and atmosphere that she‘s known for in spades. I was utterly fascinated with this Paris of the future and in unraveling the multiple mysteries layered throughout the novel.

An excellent choice for crime fiction enthusiasts. This one kept up my steady attention, but as the tale approached the climax of the book, I was hooked. I literally raced through the last 30 pages and had one of those moments that are just great in books like this – you know the ones where you find yourself saying to yourself, “Nuh uh! That didn‘t just happen.” For me, a great ending just “makes” a book.

Monarch Butterflies is an absolutely fabulous book that the whole family will love! Written by Ann Hobbie, and beautifully illustrated by Olga Baumert, Monarch Butterflies simply explains all you need to know about these wonderful creatures.

I was a total sucker for this one right from the start – a forbidden romance, a boating theme, a Norwegian male lead character – not to mention that historical fiction is my absolute fave. (This one set during the Victorian era.) I still clearly remember reading this during my lunch hours at work. I was 10 pages away from finishing it one lunch break when I had to go back into the office. Total torture!

Decently written, pleasant and enjoyable, and had a nice theme of learning what‘s really important in life. Daniel Steel lovers, or those who like a light read, will love this one.
