Organizing for Life
Organizing for Life: Declutter Your Mind to Declutter Your World | Sandra Felton
9 posts
Somehow, no matter how hard some people try to change their messy habits, they just can't seem to keep their homes in any kind of order. Magazines and books and television shows offer all kinds of advice and tactics for keeping a house organized and neat and livable. But what some people need is not more advice but a change in their mindsets. Organizing for Life helps readers understand why they seem to be inherently messy people, exposing the lies they tell themselves and introducing the truth about how they really can have a clean, inviting home. Felton helps readers focus on overcoming the roadblocks that keep them in a permanently messy state in order to change their habits for good.

This morning there was a double homicide in our village and the teenage killer is on the loose around town somewhere... so school was closed and we‘re on a Shelter in Place at home. Seems as good a time as any to reorganize the home library...

Does anyone else have as much fun organizing their books as I do lol 😅 This fun cart holds the four stacks that were originally under the window, from floor to about halfway up. These are all on my short list of TBRs. We will not talk about the 3 stacks under the other window that go all the way up to the window sill 😂The goal would be to eventually have all the TBR books on this cart. Okay, it's unrealistic but it's still good to have goals 😁

janeycanuck Just get a bigger cart 🤪 5y

Unpacking boxes of books and putting them in alphabetical order before the bookshelves go back up! This is just one part of the room!! #movingin

Today I tackle this mess, books and sewing projects. Books I can do but I need ideas for organizing the sewing kits. I have them in various bags (Bottom Left). Different sizes and most are bulky. Any suggestions to organize these sewing kits all you crafty Littens?

Hestapleton Maybe some of those small Rubbermaid drawers? 5y
TheBookAddict What @Hestapleton said or those metal carts that have been popular recently. 5y
julesG Drawers sound like a good option. I have all my sewing patterns in large plastic envelopes, which works, but it's not perfect. 5y
RebL It seems like filing cabinets or document boxes would be helpful for when you want to flip through the patterns. That way nothing gets buried or smashed. 5y
RebL Also, take that suggestion for what it‘s worth. My sewing is shoved into my old rugby kit (duffel bag). 5y

My library/craft room re-org is finished, except for two boxes that are my partner‘s, two boxes that need to get donated, and some empty plastic tubs. I used bookcases to make a little office space, and then put my chair by the window so I can look outside while reading or knitting. Of course my very elderly cat would argue that it‘s her chair, but she shares. It really is a tiny space, so I‘m thrilled with how it turned out.

I was so inspired by everyone's #goodreads posts yesterday that I finally joined Goodreads! I spent basically my whole day off organizing my TBR on it (instead of reading which is a bit ironic) and I have to say I am already so amazed how much better it is!

Hopefully I will no longer buy the same book on my Kindle, order the hard copy, and put a hold on it at the library by accident!

KCorter Ooh, I like that system. You've inspired me to clean up my own Goodreads shelves! 7y
PandaPanda @KCorter it was a long time coming! Also enjoying using the barcode scanner on the #Goodreads app. 7y
KCorter The scanner is so handy. One of these days, I will scan all my books on my bookshelf into Goodreads as a backup. As you said though, it takes such a long time. 7y
Mommamanzi What's your good reads profile name? I want to add you 😃 7y
PandaPanda @mommamanzi yess my first friend!! I think it's my name - Priya A Lane. But let me know if that doesn't work 7y

Organizing my books on this rainy Sunday. Hopefully, I will be able to find things now 😂

MrBook Ooh! #bookporn! 7y
LauraBrook Bookporn indeed! I just want to dive into the stacks and rearrange and fondle and see what's what. (Don't mean that to sound as pervy as it does, sorry.) Enjoy! 7y
Zelma @LauraBrook that doesn't sound pervy; we understand! 😆 7y

ReadingEnvy Ooh how are you categorizing? 7y
Melkyl @LauraBrook Not pervy at all - that's how we all are 😊 7y
Melkyl @ReadingEnvy I decided to keep it simple with alphabetical by the author's last name. As a rule, I am not a very organized person. 7y
