Neither good nor bad. The setting and cast were great, the main couple just didn‘t really do it for me.

Sometimes a sappy romance is just too cheesy (see yesterday's post) & other times it somehow just hits the spot. Thankfully, this one was one of the latter. Leah has been struggling a bit with life ever since her parents died in a car wreck two years ago. When she finds out that her boss who's been dating her has also been dating/shagging multiple other women in the office, she quits her job & goes home to drink some wine... only to wake up the ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) next morning to discover that she's purchased a Christmas tree farm, sight unseen, in Scotland. Readers will not be shocked to discover that (a) the farm isn't exactly as pictured on the website & (b) Leah ends up needing the help of a hunky next-door neighbor, but somehow Admans makes it work. Although buying the farm seems a bit ridiculous, the more we get to know Leah, the more it doesn't feel completely out of characters. Although ⬇ 3y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) this was mostly fun fluff, there are still some serious themes about grief & loss (when the male lead was in his teens, he lost his father to cancer as well) & how hard it is to recenter your life when a huge chunk of it is suddenly missing. This was also a clean romance (other than Leah's mental “wow he's so hot“ thoughts... which I didn't mind as much as usual because it's generously balanced with how much she admires his not-physical ⬇ 3y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) aspects as well - although I was WAY OVER her CONSTANTLY thinking about his lip piercing... I get it, just because he's a Scottish pumpkin farmer he's still HIP and HOT because he has a PIERCING - MOVE ON 😂)

ANYWAY rambling as usual but this was a fun little read, although I do wish it had had an epilogue to reassure me that Leah's farm really did make a go of it!!

#BookSpinBingo - my official #BookSpin for December! Bonus points!

TheAromaofBooks @TheSpineView - It was nice for mindless fluff - not too much angst, which was pleasant! 3y
Bookgoil Sounds great! ❤️ 3y
Andrew65 Love it when they hit the spot. 3y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick You can read 10 books before the end of the year...you can do it!! 3y
TheAromaofBooks @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick - Thank you!!! For your readathon I've been counting short stories each as their own & have one or two books left for the month that have more than one story in them, so I think I can make it!!! 3y

Currently reading this book for #ReadYourWay and #CrushTheRush readathons with @TheSpineView and @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick . Also working on my bingo boards for #BookmasBingo and #BookSpinBingo and #AVeryMerryBingo.

I‘ve read ten hours in holiday themed books so far this week (but no completed titles yet). 10x50 points per hour= 500

My grand total for week 1 of #WinterGames2020 is 1145.

slategreyskies I mean none of the Christmas novels have been completed. Just the children‘s books and stories. Not sure that was clear, and I was out of typing space above. :) 3y

Here's my #BookSpinBingo card, comprised of my #WinterGames TBR!! #BookSpin is tagged - a free festive Kindle book I got a while back. #DoubleSpin is Pride & Prejudice & Mistletoe, which I've been meaning to read for a while. Currently working my way through Ready Player Two, but after that most of the books on this list should go pretty quickly!!

InkintheMargins Is there information somewhere on the concept of book spin bingo? 🤣 Do you just pick, read, and mark off as you go? Is there a system to which place/book you land on? 3y
TheAromaofBooks @MadDashReading - Hey there!! So here is the master post I made that explains the whole shebang - https://www.litsy.com/web/post/1989556 - but basically the challenge started with participants making a list of 20 books they've been meaning to read, then on the 2nd of each month I draw 2 numbers (BookSpin/DoubleSpin) & everyone tries to read those books from their lists - so everyone is reading different books, but the same numbers, if that makes ⬇ 3y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) sense. The Bingo part started because a lot of people wanted to read more than just 2 books from their lists each month. So basically on the 2nd I draw all the numbers out & write them in as I go, so there's a new bingo arrangement each month. Everyone still reads the books from their own lists & they try to score bingos while doing so. Since today is the 2nd, December's challenge just started today so you're welcome to jump in if you ⬇ 3y

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) like - you just need a list of books you want to read!! Let me know if you have any questions or if you'd like to play along!! @MadDashReading 3y
Crazeedi @TheAromaofBooks so do you make the bingo card? 3y
TheAromaofBooks @Crazeedi - Yes, I draw the numbers out at random (after putting the “official“ BookSpin/DoubleSpin numbers back in the bowl) & fill them in as I go. Then everyone arranges their own bingo card to match where the numbers are on the card. However, there aren't any prizes or anything for this part, so it's not a big deal if you decide to make your own arrangement or whatever!! 3y
InkintheMargins Thank you for explaining! I'll sit this month out and join/start fresh in January for the new year. Sounds fun! 3y
Crazeedi @TheAromaofBooks thank you so much , see you in January for sure 3y
TheAromaofBooks @MadDashReading @Crazeedi - Sounds good!! I will add you both to the tag list so you'll get a reminder about a week before I draw January's numbers!! 3y

mrsmarch My husband‘s childhood home is up a hill from a Christmas tree farm in Pennsylvania. It‘s quite a thing to walk the dog down the hill in the peace of a summer morning and see a little pocket of perfect miniature pines all in rows. 4y
