Great Brain
Great Brain | John D Fitzgerald
3 posts | 16 read | 3 to read
This first book in the series is a great combination of "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" and The Terrible Two series, and is perfect for fans of Roald Dahl. The best con man in the Midwest is only ten years old. Tom, a.k.a., the Great Brain, is a silver-tongued genius with a knack for turning a profit. When the Jenkins boys get lost in Skeleton Cave, the Great Brain saves the day. Whether it's saving the kids at school, or helping out Peg-leg Andy, or Basil, the new kid at school, the Great Brain always manages to come out on top-and line his pockets in the process."

I have a Goodwill at the end of my street. The last Saturday of the month is 50%. This is my book haul for $7.69! The 4 books on the right are books for me or my daughter to read first. The rest will go in our Little Free Library. I was super excited to find two of The Great Brain books. I loved these books as a kid ❤️

Pickpick

This was the first series I begged my mom for as a child! Adenville,Utah where these books are set, doesn't exist. But Price, Utah is the author's home town and it's not too much of a stretch to think there's some connections between the fictional town and Price. So this is my pick for #SetInYrCity. #SetInYourCity #ReadJanuary @RealLifeReading

Krisjericho You're in Price?! I'm in Roy, up by Ogden. :) 7y
the.bookish.valkyrie @Krisjericho Nice! I worked with a few people from Roy when I lived in SLC! (edited) 7y
DrexEdit Me and all my siblings read and reread the Great Brain books! 💜 7y

My #FunFridayPhoto is The Great Brain - I loved this series set in the late 1800's about a young boy and his brilliant but mischievous older brother. I remember being so distraught as a kid because there was just one book in the series that my school library was missing, and I never did get to read it...

LukkiAnn I am sure you have a chance to find and read it now☺️ 8y
julieloverofbooks Which book was missing? I managed (not sure how) to get the whole series on EBay a while back 8y
DaveNeufeld @julieloverofbooks I can't remember now, but I have peeked at eBay now and then to find the set too! Maybe I should start hunting again ☺️ 8y
