The Murder List: A Novel of Suspense | Hank Phillippi Ryan
17 posts | 13 read | 16 to read
"An exhilarating thrill ride that keeps you turning pages.. Ryan deftly delivers a denouement as shocking as it is satisfying."--Liv Constantine, bestselling author of The Last Mrs. Parrish and The Last Time I Saw You Law student Rachel North will tell you, without hesitation, what she knows to be true. She's smart, shes a hard worker, she does the right thing, shes successfully married to a faithful and devoted husband, a lion of Boston's defense bar, and her internship with the Boston DA's office is her ticket to a successful future. Problem is--shes wrong. And in this cat and mouse game--the battle for justice becomes a battle for survival. The Murder List is a new standalone suspense novel in the tradition of Lisa Scottoline and B. A. Paris from award-winning author and reporter Hank Phillippi Ryan.

#February2021
Law student Rachel North interns with the Boston DA's office even though her lawyer husband wants her to work with him. This book is a cat and mouse game. A battle for justice which becomes a battle for survival. As the twists and turns and secrets are revealed, it leaves the reader wondering which characters are telling the truth. The novel has more than one story to follow. It is a perfect read for lovers of legal thrillers.

Stick with this one until the end. 4 stars because the protagonist felt a little generic feisty girl at first and I walked away for a month in the middle to read other things. But damn, the second half! The shifting relationships between characters! The second half of the book and final twist are why this one is up for industry awards. Good read. And Ryan‘s excellent descriptions of Boston delight, as always. #suspense #plottwists

I thought that this book was okay, but I found myself getting very confused. The book kept going from present day to six years earlier and three different trials took place throughout the book and I couldn't keep track of who was on trial for whose death. And, while the ending was quite the twist, I don't think that it made up for the confusion and mediocrity of the rest of the book. 🌟🌟🌟

Off to a strong start! Compelling action and twists like most Ryan books. Ambitious female protagonist (like most Ryan books). Good narration. Good listen for busy chore days. #audiobooks #mystery

Does sitting in a café with a book put anyone else at ease? It‘s one of my favorite things to do when I have time.

I don't like legal thrillers, but this was a suspense/mystery/thriller about lawyers, which I like just fine! Fast paced and deviously plotted, with Hank's characteristic wit and razor sharp dialogue. She's done it again! Another stellar read with a crafty twist!

Thanks to Hank's newsletter and Netgalley for the ARC! (If you like her books, sign up for her newsletter - it's fun and there are perks!)

Winning is the name of the game. Jury tampering, witness tampering…all by someone within the legal system? Can this be true? And perhaps even murder to prevent exposure? The action is dizzying, heart-stopping. Everyone has an agenda…Who can you believe?

This is the second book of Ryan‘s that I‘ve read- and it‘s a page turner for sure! But the characters, the story of #Jealousy and some easy-to-see coming twists frustrated me at times! Still, it‘s definitely entertaining and I can see how this would be a real discussion starter! #AugustABC @Eggs
