This book is an insanely awesome guide to Elizabethan England. Totally immersive and so full of amazing details. Super well paced and it covers so many aspects of society and culture. Now I need to get my hands on more books by Ian Mortimer!

I cheated and opened my #JolabokaflodSwap package yesterday before our flight and was beyond delighted. Mo‘s Dark is one of my favorite chocolate bars, but I adore chocolate with raspberries. Thank you, @Ericalambbrown , it was perfect!
Ps. The homemade goodies are long gone.
Was able to listen a bit in the car on our way home from apple-picking! 🍎 📚
Come with me as we take a #MagicCarpetRide through time to Elizabethan England. Stay on the carpet, because it's probably not a good idea to walk around the muck and decay on the streets. But, gaze at the life, the goods (including carpets!) that adorn the wealthier homes. Mortimer uses primary sources to dish out the real story about life under Elizabeth's reign. High on my #tbr pile. #RockinMay
Just finished this book. Highly recommend if you like history. Some knowledge of the history of England is recomended but not required. But all the Edwards gets a little confusing!
Wrestling a guy to the ground? Alright.
Biting off his nose? Slight overreaction.
Swallowing the damned thing? Someone call for the priest. Exorcism needed.
But when memory embraces the night
I see those days, long since gone,
like the ancient light of extinguished stars
traveling still, and shining on.

This is an AWESOME book for anyone needing to research the 16th century, or anyone just interested in Elizabethan England or history. Mortimer walks you through 1500's London with such detail it's amazing. Learn everything from what people wore to how they treated their ill. So interesting.
Lesson of this page... don't upset the royal monarchs.
