I'm a big fan of Laurie Halse Anderson, so I had high expectations, but she didn't let me down. This memoir in verse was well worth the read, and she told so many fascinating and moving stories from her life. I intend to revisit this one, and I definitely recommend it.

ferskner I just finished this and immediately wanted to get the audiobook. So good. 2mo
elizabethlk @ferskner do you know who reads the audiobook? I bet it's just as good as the visual read regardless. 2mo
ferskner It looks like she narrates it herself, awesome! 2mo

ferskner @julesG I adore it, but as a non-native learner, it definitely has its quirks. :) 2mo

Laurie Halse Anderson‘s powerful memoir in verse form. Includes resources on sexual violence and mental health at the back of the book.

“this note about anatomy/ from me to you/is for the remembering/that after you speak/after you shout/your open mouth/will breathe in/the light for which/you‘ve hungered/ and your backbone/will unfurl until/you can again dance/to the beat/of your steadfast heart”
This book is powerful, especially the 2nd part. I like the poetry format, it makes it different than other books about trauma. My favorite book so far of the #BFC ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“scars may look stronger than unwounded skin, but they‘re not
once broken, we‘re easily hurt again, or worse
the temptation is to hide behind shields,
play defense, drown ourselves in sorrow
or drug our way to haunted oblivion
until death erases hope”

My sister let me borrow this and said I have to read it. I‘ve read wintergirls, so I‘m sure it will be good.

I got a big shipment of books in today, which always makes for a happy day 😊😊😊

I ordered these months ago (our business office is terribly slow) so I had completely forgotten about some of them- happy surprises!
