My 40 yo niece that is bipolar/schizophrenic started talking in voices last year - a 70yo Brooklyn lady, a 50yo man, and a 10yo girl just to name a few. So I rushed out and bought the book Sybil to reread. Until I googled and realized half of Sybil was made up. So I haven‘t had the heart to read these two books. Thankfully, my niece is now in a safe place and taking her meds! 👍🏼 #aprella #virtualinsanity

Cinfhen That‘s terrifying @Mdargusch I‘m glad your niece is in a safe place...was she married with a family!?! 6y
AmyG How frigtening for your niece and her family. I loved the Sybil book...but was saddened when it was revealed to be false. 6y
TrishB Glad your niece is feeling better. A worrying time 😔❤️ 6y

emilyhaldi I was lucky enough to get a phone call from the 70 yr old Brooklyn woman posing as your great aunt Emily 😆 good times! 6y
Jas16 So glad that you niece is safe and doing better. 6y
pocketmermaid I gave up on Sybil, too, when I found out it was sensationalized fictionalized garbage. 6y
Reviewsbylola Hopefully they continue to keep her for a long while. 😂 6y
Reviewsbylola You forgot to mention that great aunt Emily has been dead for a few decades and was calling you from the grave. 😂😂 @emilyhaldi 6y
Reviewsbylola No, she got divorced a couple years ago after a brief marriage. Her mom was my mom‘s sister and she died of cancer in 2014, so since then cousin (Maryann, same name as Mom, diff sp.), kind of went off the rails again. It‘s a sordid story. Ended with a bunch of craziness that the criminal courts got involved with. @Cinfhen 6y
TheBookStacker I would say even though he was a criminal that the book The Minds Of Billy Milligan is a good one to read, it really sheds light upon DID and it‘s affects. Plus Daniel Keyes is an amazing writer. 6y
Cortg So glad she‘s getting the help she needs. @TheBookStacker I‘m curious about the book you tagged. Thanks. 6y
LeahBergen I read Sybil in grade six. 😂 I quite enjoyed returning to the whole story in Sybil Exposed; it‘s fascinating. 6y
LeahBergen @emilyhaldi @Reviewsbylola Okay, as sad as this all is that call from beyond the grave is pretty bloody funny. 😂😂 You have to laugh, right... 6y
Reviewsbylola Omfg you have no idea. That isn‘t even the most ridiculous thing she has done. Or even close. But yes, you DEFINITELY have to laugh. And this has been going on for over 20 years so it‘s nothing new, although she has periods of semi sanity. @LeahBergen 6y
emilyhaldi Oh, we laughed @LeahBergen! I actually have a recording of the call bc I knew my family would want to hear every word 🤣 6y
Mdargusch It makes me laugh thinking about it @LeahBergen 6y
Mdargusch I might read Sybil Exposed then @LeahBergen 6y
Cinfhen I‘m remembering you mentioning this cousin before @Reviewsbylola glad she‘s got you guys around... 6y
