Somewhere between a pick & so-so and yet overall, I recommend this book. I‘ve outlined my reasons for my indecisive rating in my GR review.

This would make a great book club book. So much to unpack and discuss.

This is my Jan #bookspin 🎉 After falling so far behind last year, I‘m super happy that I‘m on track with #bookspin2022!

Only 194 more books to go before my (self-imposed) book buying ban ends! 😆

GarethSouthwell That's an interesting point about individualism versus communal identity. I guess it takes an outsider to the West to see that.

Thank you Gayla! What an awesome #staycationswap box. I needed a new umbrella. And the tee is too cute! I will enjoy using it all. 💜💜💜

And I told you it would show up eventually. About 2 weeks is the norm. 😉

I continue to read about Myanmar. This is my 4th read. The book is a memoir of a member of one of the hill tribes, the Padaung, and his coming of age during the brutal military regime of the 80‘s and 90‘s. He tells of his spiritual life as well as his life with the rebels and beyond. Fascinating man with a very incongruous life plus I learned a great deal about Burma. Not a page turner though. #readaroundtheworld #myanmar #burma

BookishMe I must look up your other choices for this country ;)) 6y

🐅🐅🐅🐅 Well, if you ever wondered how to cook pigeons in marijauna sauce, wonder no longer. This book has you covered.

Almost finished with this book. It's really good but it's a really slow burn. It's a very matter of fact recounting of the author's life in Burma. It's super interesting but not the kind of book that I need to tear through. My knowledge of Burma is next to nothing so it was an interesting change of pace for me.

readordierachel That's quite a recipe. 7y
