Walking by Night

On her way home on a foggy night, Debby Telerhaye is convinced she is being followed. Trying to hide she finds a body but by the time she raises the alarm it has disappeared. The body of an actress in a stage production of “The Devils“ is found in the nearby abbey ruins the next day.

Not as spooky as others in the series, but still full of twists and turns. Rather sad that 8 years on it's presumably the last one but without any sense of closure.

Andrew65 @CMB Totally sad! Why not get treatment for the sister. Was also waiting for a last minute reprieve for the husband. After that it felt like a bit of a non ending and needed to know what happened next. 5y

Andrew65 @Jee_HookedOnBookz A lot of focused reading time, and one of the books I was virtually finished going into the week and another I was half way through. The holiday from work and other commitments helped. Plus roughly 8 hours reading on average every day. We also have cut out all tv for reading time. Both my wife and I are voracious readers and the children have flown the nest. (edited) 5y

I read this series with a group on LibraryThing and we have enjoyed each installment. Very sad to see the series coming to an end. Joe Plantagenet needs to have some type of meaningful relationship. Past secrets need to be revealed. Pick up first book, Seeking the Dead, and you won't be disappointed. Characters are very believable. Plots are quite complex. Lots of twists keep the pages turning. Highly recommend for psychological mystery lovers!

It was great to be back with Joe Plantagenet and Kate‘s writing. Quite a short book (under 250 Pages) but a lot was packed in. Quite an intricate plot and it took a long while (almost to the end) to be able to work out who the murderer was and why. A good hint at the supernatural in this one as usual too. This was the fifth book and three years since it was published. I hope Kate writes more and finds a love interest for Joe. Recommend the series.

Off work this week so thought I‘d try my own personal #Readathon for the week, with an aim of finishing 8 books, 400 Pages a day and eight hours reading, so during the week aiming for 2800 Pages and 56 hours of reading.

Reached the halfway stage in #24B4Monday #Readathon and today I have been reading the three books in the post. One audiobook, one physical book and one ebook. All feel like good reads. Now other halfway through The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle which is quite a unique book and a unique approach. No books finished yet today.

Andrew65 @suzie.reads Didn‘t use to do this but developed as I do group/buddy reads, and as I listen to audiobooks whilst travelling. My brain doesn‘t seem to have any problem compartmentalising them, and always totally engrossed with whatever book when I am reading it. 5y

suzie.reads I like that I just prefer to read one book at at time. I blame my ocd haha 5y

Starting Walking by Night, which is the last book (currently) in the DI Joe Plantagenet Series set in Eborby (Fictional York). These are usually good crime fiction books but with an element of the supernatural in them. Reading this as part of a Group Read on Librarything.
