I Am Her Tribe
I Am Her Tribe | Danielle Doby
6 posts | 2 read | 1 to read
Positive and powerful, I Am Her Tribe is a collection of poetry drawing on the viral Instagram handle and online hashtag that serves to create moments of connection through empowerment and storytelling. Focusing on inspiration, Doby's poetry invites its reader to "Come as you are. Your tribe has arrived. Your breath can rest here." both soft and fierce can coexist and still be powerful

#AnglophileApril Day 6: #MyGeneration will probly look askance at IG poetry with evidently-trite and cliched messages, and the seemingly-random line breaks – I maintain though that poems like these do have a place in the larger scheme of things, particularly with young women who are struggling with self-image, with self-acceptance, and coming into themselves. #WomenReadWomen2019 - I reviewed it here: https://wp.me/pDlzr-jTk

GatheringBooks Took a photo of the page and edited it to create this purplish starry effect. 😍🧚🏼‍♀️💕 8mo

Staring the New Year off with a bad chest cold (boo!) And some poetry (yay!) And this poem seems like a good thing to practice coming into a new year.

Happy New Year everyone!! How are you spending this first day of 2019??

squirrelbrain Love this poem! ❤️ 11mo
SamanthaMarie @squirrelbrain I really do too! Though it is quite the challenge to my mostly frenetic brain. :) 11mo
squirrelbrain Exactly! I read it thinking ‘That‘s what I should do‘, but it‘s just not going to happen.... too many squirrels running round in my brain! 🐿 11mo

Here is another section that got me interested: Sagittarius nov 22-dec 21 i am her Ruled by the elements fire and her constant craving for explorations and open spaces, she is on a quest, a journey, writing her story through the very tips of her toes she travels on

One of my favorite parts in the poetry book: ... coming out of the shadows to rewrite the untold stories of our daughters lighting the path to a future where no one has to say "me too" again (pg 49) This little excerpt reminded me of all the assault and sexual harrassmeng that men do and still do because they think they have ALL the power over women. But that is not true one bit. #standtall #bebrave

OMG I loved this book. It was very simple to read and I enjoyed all the pictures that the author drew on her own while also keeping to the various themes she focused on. Highly recommend to any poetry lover or poetry fanatic. I have a place for poetry in addition to fiction books. Definitely a must read. 5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
