Oh my goodness Nerissa @Rissreads This mammoth parcel just arrived for me filled with good things. I‘m absolutely gobsmacked 🤩. The Aussie books sound SO good, I haven‘t read that Boyne yet, I was intending to read Shuggie Bain soon & White Fragility is on my TBR. 🙌 Amazing choices👍 And the lovely decoration and card! Absolutely astounded and grateful for your kindness. Happiest of New Years to you & I hope we can meet up again IRL soon!

Quite coincidentally all the books I read this month were written by women. My favourite was The Lucky Galah. Melting Moments was the most disappointing.

What a delight! I loved the quirky perspective - such a clever way to tie in all the town's stories. A riot of nostalgic Australian culture. I think this one is probably incomprehensible not only to non Australians, but also to most Australians born after 1975. Thank you for gifting me this one Nerissa. I loved it. #ozfiction

Timely read. Very Aussie read. Comment by Rosalie Ham “ Subtle , disarming and insightful. “ That sums this read up for me. Also reminded me of the part Carnarvon played in the moon landing. We hear a lot about Parkes but not a lot about Carnarvon‘s part. Her attention to the details of daily Aussie life back then stirred lots of memories for me .I loved this book. @MrsMalaprop @Rissreads #ozfiction

⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is not terrible but it is a little bit tricksy for its own good. The highlight was the Galah, an impressive amount of imagination is involved in this narration. I didn‘t find the communication between bird and satellite dish to add anything at all to the book apart from confusion. Plotwise it‘s pretty thin and structurally it‘s a little messy. What it does do well is small town Australia circa 1960.

Wow, I loved this book. It is narrated by a galah named Lucky who lives in a country town in WA leading up to the moon landing in the 60‘s. I loved the Aussie slang and references including Emu bitter, Jatz crackers, lamingtons, EH holdens and wooden salad bowls with matching servers. Everything about this story and it‘s characters were just so Australian - quirky, flawed but loveable. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
