Another #bookmail post. This time trying to encourage the 12 year old to read. I already have them unread on kindle but he's under doctors orders not to use screens just now..... Looks like all the books I've picked up to try to engage him will go untouched as he "hates reading" ??‍♀️?‍♀️

Tamra My son isn‘t a big reader, but still loves the story treehouse series by Andy Griffiths. Frankly I don‘t care about the level or genre so long as he‘s reading. He also recently enjoyed Kevin Hart‘s Marcus Makes a Movie, of course Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Dream Jumper graphic novels, and some of Patterson‘s Middle School books. He‘s also liked the Track series by Reynolds. I require reading every day, but it‘s not a go-to activity for him. 2y
Balibee146 @tamara thanks even the new release Wimpy Kid and Spiderman comic titles aren't tempting him just now..... Trying not to force it and put him off more as he's quite a truculent personality lol.... Pre teen rebellion against reading mum part of it too I think. Will be saving your recommendations though x 2y
MeganAnn My son just read the Giver in class and he loved it. Although, he does enjoy reading. If your son likes video games for his screen time he might like some of the related books. I know there are some Minecraft books and the tagged book series. The Guys Read collections are also great. They are mostly short story collections with different topics all written by big name authors for “guys”. The short stories make for easier chunks and most are funny. 2y

Fantastic crazy dystopian fiction! Do not watch the movie or you will never want to read the book!

5 books completed in October. 2 count towards #LitsyAtoZ2019: the tagged book is my choice for L & Reaper Man is my pick for R. I still need to read 9 books: I, J, K, O, T, U, V, X, Y. #Spooktober #OctoberWrapup #ReadingStats

I have read and loved the original Giver. I have not read the other three. I recently got this good looking copy of all four.

Cinfhen That is a good looking book. I haven‘t read The Giver but I remember my kids were assigned that book in middle school. 5y
LiterRohde @Cinfhen It is a wonderful book. 5y

Scochrane26 I love The Giver & keep meaning to read the other 3. 5y
Clare-Dragonfly Beautiful cover! I read The Giver as an adult and loved it. Then I continued with the rest of the series and was deeply disappointed. I hope you are less so. 5y
Eggs I have read all of them and was entranced 5y
HatefulGrablin I had no idea it was a series! Now I'm even more frustrated at being assigned the first one over and over again in school. 5y
