This is my IRL October bookclub choice. I admit it took me a long time to feel comfortable with this storyline and to absorb myself in the lives of the ancient Sages of Israel. My prior knowledge is limited so I‘m not sure how much of this tale is facts vs myth but nonetheless it was compelling, infuriating, remorseful and heart wrenching. I‘m sure this book will encourage passionate discussion amongst our group.

Cinfhen Fair warning @RestlessFickleBookHoarder the translation from the original Hebrew to English is awkward at times and I had a fundamental issue with one comment (idea) the author stated that made me a little uncomfortable/ angry. If u do read this book I‘d love to compare notes with you!! 6y

I don‘t like making #TBR piles because I‘m a super moody reader but this morning I decided to follow the fabulous @valeriegeary and commit to only reading books I own for the month of September. These four are my top prospects as two are for #buddyread(s), one is IRL bookclub and my daughter wants to read Last Mrs. Parish for trip back to NY☹️ Good thing I bought Return to Peyton Place last night 🤗 I‘m also hoping to read Scar Tissue 🤟🏽🌶🎤

Mdargusch Wow! I‘ve read it twice or I would join you! I love architecture and true crime so this book was a win win for me. The building of the world‘s fair was just as fascinating as the story of the evil murderer was. 6y

GlassAsDiamonds I should totally do this too...my TBR is a little beyond embarrassing and I‘ve been reading stupid rubbish. Hmm. (Devil in the White City is great!!! Made me slightly obsessive about architecture for a while but great!!!! 😊😊😊) 6y
