so-soI liked the ending, but as a whole, the book was fine. I wasn't particularly invested in the characters and the writing style wasn't my favorite

pick⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amazing! This story was beautifully written! It‘s about a woman who is given the Chaos Stick by a djombi. The Indigo Lord is not happy that she has such power so he seeks to find her in order to get it back. It‘s a great story that reminded me a little bit of Neil Gaiman. Loved and would honestly read again.

Thunderstormy first day of vacation means sleeping in then finishing Redemption in Indigo. Only had a few chapters left so I didn't want to pack it.
This was also my L for #litsyatoz and my 2010 for #192019challenge - which means I am finished the 2010s until we hit 2018 releases.
Day 25 #readingwomenmonth - rainbow spines/lgbtq. I went with rainbow spines! I admit I just picked 'em for colour, I don't think these books are lgbtq except for Dreams of Shreds and Tatters (dark and very good). Redemption in Indigo is still tbr so not sure.
After listening to the Get Booked podcast, I am in the mood to read some fantasy adventure books. Here's my book haul from the library yesterday. Can't wait to get started! 📚
I don't read much romance but many of my books have #diverselovestories in them for #feistyfeb.
pickThis was a charming retelling of a Senegalese folktale about a young woman who is given the power to control Chaos and goes on a journey with the djombi to understand what it means to have this power. Themes of choice, chance, free will, and duty. This story was a little shaggy and meandering but I think that was part of the point.
Getting some reading in while the little one watches cartoons.
panI was recommended this book by GR because I liked "Alif the Unseen", unfortunately Redemption in Indigo doesn't come close to the reaction that I had with Alif. What really bothered me with the book was the omniscient narrator and the narration style in general. At times it felt like the author wanted to modernize the folk tale and if this was the goal, I didn't think it was implemented successfully.
Library haul from today. Could have gotten some of these as Kindle loans, but felt like paper books today!
so-soThis was a quick and fun book... reads like fable, with several life lessons sprinkled throughout. It's creatively written, but I felt like the characters could have been fleshed out a little more, and the ending wasn't what I was hoping for. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
