As a lover of animals and nature, Beatrix Hathaway has always been more comfortable outdoors than in the ballroom. Even though she participated in the London season in the past, the classic beauty and free-spirited Beatrix has never been swept away or seriously courted...and she has resigned herself to the fate of never finding love. Has the time come for the most unconventional of the Hathaway sisters to settle for an ordinary manjust to avoid spinsterhood? Captain Christopher Phelan is a handsome, daring soldier who plans to marry Beatrix's friend, the vivacious flirt Prudence Mercer, when he returns from fighting abroad. But, as he explains in his letters to Pru, life on the battlefield has darkened his souland it's becoming clear that Christopher won't come back as the same man. When Beatrix learns of Pru's disappointment, she decides to help by concocting Pru's letters to Christopher for her. Soon the correspondence between Beatrix and Christopher develops into something fulfilling and deep...and when Christopher comes home, he's determined to claim the woman he loves. What began as Beatrix's innocent deception has resulted in the agony of unfulfilled loveand a passion that can't be denied...

Romance is my comfort genre and the tagged book is a perennial favourite along with Sylvester by Georgette Heyer.
Historical fiction is another favourite, latest favourite being River Spirit by Leila Aboulela.
I like unique narratives by women, not that's a genre though
Fantasy -The lioness quartet,Lord of the rings,Broken earth,Harry Potter!

I started listening to Poppy‘s story this morning but for some reason my phone, which was in my pocket, decided to return the audiobook and it‘s going to be 10 more weeks before I can check it out again. 😤 So I went to the library and found Beatrix‘s story and enjoyed it greatly. Lisa Kleypas knows how to write romance.

I also checked out & read her Christmas with Holly. So that‘s books 5 & 6 for #NutsInMay

Deifio How annoying! Glad you found an alternative though! 3y
wanderinglynn @Deifio thanks! ☺️ 3y

For my read #twointhree #LaborDay #readathon I read the tagged book and Married in the Morning . I loved both historical #romantsy novels. But the tagged book was particularly good. Captain Phelan is fighting in the Crimean War, letters from the lovely Prudence keep him alive. But Prudence didn‘t write the letters Beatrix did. Complications ensue upon his return to civilian life- including PTSD and romance. Heat 🔥 and Heart.

Once more on the way to the airport - again work related - but I've got these two bright spots in my carry on and much more on my Kindle app. Hey, it's a long, long way from Chicago to Tokyo. Need to keep my spirits up! 😭😩

I wasn't sure if I'd enjoy this one, I didn't pay much attention to Beatrix in the proceeding books. She was a great supporting character but I couldn't quite picture her in the role of romantic heroine. Luckily I was mistaken, I'm 100 pages in and it's great!

So even though there are 36 titles on my Kindle containing the word 'love', I can only find four actual books with #loveinthetitle. Some romance reader I am! 😂 #feistyfeb #lovetitles #romantsy

Chachic Such a cute pic! 7y

For #epistolary I could choose no other than one of my favorite Kleypas romances, in which a soldier falls in love with a girl he formerly scorned via her letters.

"Dearest Christopher,
I can't write you again.
I'm not who you think I am.
I didn't mean to send love letters, but that is what they became. On their way to you, my words turned into heartbeats on the page. Come back, please come home and find me." -[unsigned]

Sisters before spouses. 😂 I loved this book and one of the main reasons for that is the family dynamics. 💜

margreads I must be behind on kleypas books! 7y
BookThingo @margreads This is an old book, so maybe? 😊 But it's definitely worth the read! 7y

I'm rediscovering why Lisa Kleypas is so beloved by romance readers. This story features an independent heroine, a somewhat broken hero, an excitable dog, and a fat hedgehog.

And now we say goodbye to the Hathaways. They are now my third favorite family in Regency romance, after the Malorys and the Bridgertons, respectively. Beatrix is my favorite!

Jessisreading Oh man, I love the Malorys AND the Bridgertons. I should push Kleypas up my list! 8y
