Aleph | Paulo Coelho
Transform your life. Rewrite your destiny. In his most personal novel to date, internationally best-selling author Paulo Coelho returns with a remarkable journey of self-discovery. Like the main character in his much-beloved The Alchemist, Paulo is facing a grave crisis of faith. As he seeks a path of spiritual renewal and growth, he decides to begin again: to travel, to experiment, to reconnect with people and the landscapes around him. Setting off to Africa, and then to Europe and Asia via the Trans-Siberian Railway, he initiates a journey to revitalize his energy and passion. Even so, he never expects to meet Hilal. A gifted young violinist, she is the woman Paulo loved five hundred years beforeand the woman he betrayed in an act of cowardice so far-reaching that it prevents him from finding real happiness in this life. Together they will initiate a mystical voyage through time and space, traveling a path that teaches love, forgiveness, and the courage to overcome lifes inevitable challenges. Beautiful and inspiring, Aleph invites us to consider the meaning of our own personal journeys: Are we where we want to be, doing what we want to do? Some books are read. Aleph is lived. This eBook edition includes an excerpt from Paulo Coelho's Manuscript Found in Accra and a Reading Group Guide!

So I just completed the Aleph and I really don't know how to comprehend it. It's my 3rd book of Coelho's and I loved the previous ones but not this. With the description of the book, I expected something more on faith and spirituality which the 1st part of book is, but then it shifts to past lifes and I was lost.I wonder if it's because this book was too early for me or just that it may not be as exceptional as the others🤷🏻‍♀️. Any thoughts?

I enjoyed this novel and the tidbits of wisdom along the way. The story kept me interested and I finished it much faster than other books I‘ve tried reading so that must mean it was a good read! Lol. I enjoy his style of writing and the insights he shares in this book.

We return laden with treasures that might end up buried again...” p. 255

Here‘s to reading at the beach during my last few days of summer! I hope to continue reading as much as I have been recently when I go back to work. There is certainly something magical about books and their ability to transport you to different worlds entirely. Swimming with dolphins 🐬 in the wild and getting to lay on the beach soaking up the sun while reading an amazing book = paradise 🏝

The Washington Post writes “Spiritualists and wanderlusts will eagerly devour... [Coelho‘s] search for all things meaningful.” I consider myself both and they are right about this book. I‘m almost halfway through and really soaking it up! I feel like I‘m turning over a new leaf in my reading- devoting more time and energy to books and reading. I always say how much I love books and can often be found in a bookstore now I‘m putting that into action

This one has a lot of mystical elements to it, which for me made it less appealing than The Alchemist. I still love Coelho's poetic thoughts and I also love that his books always give me something to think about. ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 out of 5.

Some mystical stuff in this one, but that quote is big. It's stuff like this that makes me love Coelho.

I'm so excited to be starting this one. Coelho wrote one of my favorite books - The Alchemist - so I am really looking forward to this one!! I'm most excited, though, about my cute little crab bookmark buddy I bought on Etsy recently!! If interested, https://www.etsy.com/shop/createdbydanielle1

DaniRa How was Hausfrau? That is one I debated and put back... 7y
Sweettartlaura @DaniRa Hausfrau is challenging. It's nothing like the fun ride it's advertised as. And the main character is so hard to like. Still, I wound up really liking it. The prose is astoundingly interesting (Essbaum is a poet first) that I think it's worth the work you go through with it. 7y
DaniRa Thank you! 7y

#ReadJanuary I don't think any of these books are necessarily a #slowread but I'm slowly reading them. #24in48 zapped me of a few hundred brain cells...I REALLY can't focus 😖Hope everybody is having a good day, morning😊

Reviewsbylola Readathons do that to me too! I read a graphic novel Monday night and then found it a little difficult to get into the book I started yesterday. Luckily it drew me in because I was starting to feel really burnt out. I think I need to take it slow for the next few days! 7y
Reviewsbylola I did really enjoy Lillian Boxfish and Dark Matter though! 7y
Cinfhen Sorry, you are also having difficulty concentrating. But....BOTM selections are 5 days away!!!! I need you to rest up your mind and get to work with your sleuthing skills👓🕵️‍♀️😜 @Reviewsbylola 7y

Reviewsbylola Hahahaha I had just started thinking about #BOTM the other day. I'm a little hesitant now that I had such a horrible reaction to Lucky You! Praying they don't have another stinker like that! 7y
CocoReads Ha! This was my first 24 in 48 and I'm having trouble focusing too. I have a book I need to finish by Monday and I'm sure I'll make it but I read very little yesterday and today isn't shaping up to be very good either. 7y
Cinfhen @Reviewsbylola They suckered punched us last month, wasn't very happy with ANY of the choices😫I'm praying for some winners🙏🏻 (edited) 7y
Cinfhen @CocoReads I knew there had to be more of us...I've read less than an hour in the past 72 hours 🙈 7y
CocoReads @Cinfhen I got a couple hours on Monday as it was my day off but I know it's been less than an hour yesterday and only about 10 minutes so far today. 7y
Reviewsbylola I thought Lillian Boxfish was exceptional and The Most Dangerous Place was really good too so the month wasn't a bust but I am unreasonably irritated about Lucky You. I truly don't even believe the judge read it. I think BOTM gets so excited about offering exclusives that they overlook the actual book a little bit. So I will be a bit wary from now on of their exclusives. 7y
Cinfhen I was able to get an ARC from Netgalley for both Lillian Boxfish and Most Dangerous Place, and the other books just didn't interest me so I skipped last month. I agree, they were probably trying to create some hype for a pretty much unknown author/ novel. If you find any clues for February's selections please share @Reviewsbylola 😘 7y

Read. This. Book.
It's the most romantic thing I have ever read and they never even kissed. This real life story of love across lifetimes is something everyone must experience. Light a fire on a mountainside for a friend. Go on an adventure to find your life's purpose and reclaim your kingdom. Be inspired.

Thank goodness for writers, because some people have a profound way with words and I want to gorge myself on their wisdom. For translators and international publications, and for people who are determined to bring such work to people like me, who might not have had the opportunity to be touched by these words, otherwise. THANK YOU!

Paulo Coelho has such insight into the human spirit, his words climb into my soul.

It's a map of the magnificent Trans-Siberian Railway 🚂🛤 Definitely on my Bucket List!!

raresquarebear Yes! I'm loving this book! Paolo Coelho is quickly becoming a favorite author of mine. 8y
Alma @raresquarebear I enjoyed it too, especially that it mostly took place in a train ? Have you read "By the river Piedra I sat down and wept"? It's my favorite! 8y
raresquarebear @Alma the only other book of his I have read so far is The Alchemist. I plan on gorging myself on his books, I'm sold. The man is just brilliant and incredibly insightful. 8y
Alma @raresquarebear You're hooked! 😄 The Alchemist is the most known book he wrote but the others are just as good if not better on some aspects. Enjoy your #coelhoaddiction :) 8y
