Serial Killers
Serial Killers: The Method and Madness of Monsters | Peter Vronsky
In this unique book, Peter Vronsky documents the psychological, investigative, and cultural aspects of serial murder, beginning with its first recorded instance in Ancient Rome, through fifteenth-century France, up to such notorious contemporary cases as cannibal/necrophile Ed Kemper, Henry Lee Lucas, Ted Bundy, and the emergence of what he classifies as "the serial rampage killer" such as Andrew Cunanan. Exhaustively researched with transcripts of interviews with killers, and featuring up-to-date information on the apprehension and conviction of the Green River Killer and the Beltway Snipers, Vronsky's one-of-a-kind books covers every conceivable aspect of an endlessly riveting true-crime phenomenon.

ElizaMarie Chucky. It‘s just like the whole you can‘t kill a doll thing. I was super obsessed with Per Semetary and the little boy scared me to death because I mean you can‘t kick a kid? I mean I guess you could... 5y
Sleepswithbooks @ElizaMarie - I fully support kicking that little evil spawn! 5y
ElizaMarie Haha I know I know... you have to kick him! I just think I‘d hesitate and be killed. You know ... when dolls or creepy demon kids take over... 5y

Sleepswithbooks Girl, stick with me because I‘m not going to hesitate. I‘ll punt a creepy demon kid like it‘s a rotten crab apple! 5y
robinb Chucky because I had a doll that looked exactly like him growing up. And that was BEFORE the movie. 😱😱😱 5y
That-Bookish-Hiker Freddie because for me the time I feel the most vulnerable is when I‘m sleeping and he can get you in your dreams so that‘s terrifying to me. @ElizaMarie the little kid in Pet Semetary still creeps me out! 5y

A fascinating look at the psychological, investigative, and cultural aspects of serial murder, beginning with its first recorded instance in Ancient Rome and up to contemporary killers such as Ted Bundy. A bit textbook-ish in places, but still an interesting read. Plus the author includes a chapter on “how to survive an encounter with a serial killer.” Which kind of gave me nightmares, if truth be told.

Bklover Sounds fascinating! I‘ve been on a true crime kick lately. 5y

Flagging system quickly spiralling out of control. Don't know whether to think I'm crazy to completely redesign a course mid-stream to satisfy the obsession my students have with serial killers...or win teacher of the year. Either way I'm sure I've already been put on government/police watchlists for the disturbing string of online search terms, journal articles accessed, & constant tagging of this book here on Litsy #adulting or #poorchoices ? 😉

thegirlwiththelibrarybag 😅🤞🏼 good luck! 6y
Itchyfeetreader I say great teacher - responding to your students is amazing. They will be so more engaged because of it. 6y
CuriousG I sure hope so @Itchyfeetreader - it will be walking a fine line of how much is too much on the subject (for the parental view, not the students) 6y
Itchyfeetreader Fingers crossed. I still remember a teacher allowing me to flex a study module at school to focus on the titanic (which I was obsessed by). I got so much out of it ... 6y
CuriousG @Itchyfeetreader They also have an independent study unit where they each get to choose their own topic and do a deep dive throughout the semester. I find that helps as well 6y

About to start teaching the concept of nature vs nurture for my psyc/soc/anthro class. So many ways to do that, but for a group like this one, serial murder is the way to do it. Seeming biological animal drive to kill when crowded vs changing social structures and taboos - excellent discussion points!

Now that I've spent almost 2 hours reading about all the creepy shit that counts as serial murder, both pre-industrial and industrial ages, I should be set to have some scary ass dreams all night long. I should rethink what time of day I do this kind of reading #vampiresarereal #realpeoplethatis #transylvaniahistorylesson

This book, Briguella is not in Litsy‘s data base yet but it is not to be missed! Not for the faint of heart, it follows a detective and journalist in their attempts to track a serial killer who is targeting beautiful blondes. With breakneck pacing it may just keep you up all night!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟A bonus is the author, Vickie Fitzgerald has just joined Litsy so let‘s welcome her @VickiFitzgeraldauthor and show her our lovely community!

Sunday relaxing time. Got this gem at the goodwill today for $1. This is the 2nd book I‘m reading this month along with the Harry Potter book 6 I can‘t seem to finish. I will definitely be bouncing between these two until I finish them both. Cheers & happy Sunday!

Caffeinated_Reader I probably should have not included the box of wine in the pic 😂😂😂 I usually only have 3 glasses of wine while I read and then I call it a night lol don‘t judge me 😆 6y
Meredith3 Holy shit yeah, I like your style! Nothing's better than boxed wine and murder! Get it, girl!!! 🖤🖤🖤 6y

1. Dracula as long as he's eating what I'm eating.
2. Ummm little tear. I mean that wouldn't be ideal but at least I could finish reading the book.
3. Visually.
4. Dog-ear I guess... why such brutal negativity?
5. Serial killer.
