Darcy is a likable character, her ex is as smarmy as they come but his stepdaughter is sweet, elderly summer neighbor Mimi is delightful, I had mixed feelings about Mimi's grandson, Clive, and I loved maybe boyfriend Nash.

Most of the story and writing were engaging, but the exposition where the narrative went into Darcy's past, and then the last wrap-it-all-up chapter were a bit dry and rote, but overall it was quite enjoyable.

After sobbing my eyes out last night finishing a book I really need a book with a love story. And can we just look at that beach background. I need warmer days so I can sit on the beach and listen to the waves crashing.

I didn't like Darcy's interests. Either they were too conceited, arrogant, or demanding and controlling. The evolving friendships of women of varying ages interested me more than the romance. I'd read more of Thayer's.

We spent the past week in Southport.

I love a good summer read. I read this captivating story in one sitting...unputdownable! Grab a glass of sweet tea, get comfy on the porch swing and settle in with this book!

This one was pretty cute. Definitely a fun beach read.

I feel generous calling this book “so-so.” It was such a weird combination of melodramatic, and completely mundane. There was almost no plot to speak of, and the whole book just felt extremely superficial. With no depth and a barely there story, I probably wouldn‘t recommend this one. It did have a Nantucket setting though, so that was something. 2 1/2 stars.

I‘ve been listening to this audiobook and working nonstop. So far I have one topiary mostly finished, and I‘m finally sitting down to take a break before I fall over. 🤪 #AudioCrafting

This time of year, I love a beachy novel, so naturally I had to grab this one. 🏖

I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook of secrets in the summer! I always enjoy Nancy Thayer's books and this one was no exception 😊

Nancy Thayer's newest novel is about main character Darcy, a young divorcee and librarian who's inherited her grandmothers home on Nantucket. A light, quick read (and next to last on my summer reading stack)👌🏻

Not her best effort. I've read some of her other books and enjoyed them much more. My main issue was that the young, 30 year old main character talked and acted like she was 50.

She's 30 and she talks and acts like she is 50 throughout the entire book!

And so the battle continues between book and cat...

Good beach read

Dang it. Again Nancy Thayer delivers another just okay summer read. I liked it but it was nothing special and romance felt very stiff and disjointed and kinda weird.

I was scheduled to work today but ran out of work early, came outside to start a new book to find partly cloudy skies with a small hint of thunderstorms brewing. So typical of this weekend in the Sierras.

A delightful beach read! Thayer truly knows Nantucket. After reading this novel, I desperately wanted to plan a trip there. Darcy, a young divorcée, lives in the house she inherited from her grandmother. Her ex-husband and his new wife rent the house behind hers (cue all the drama!) and next door has new renters as well as a few doors down who both end up capturing her heart. This book is about the beauty of unexpected friendships and moving on.
