Pickpick

This was published in 1986 and won the American Book Award in 1987. It‘s an epistolary novel. Through Theresa‘s letters to her friend Alicia we explore the intimate details of a friendship between two women as a world shaped by men, shaped by tradition tries to define them. I love Ana, she can do no wrong for me. I have always thought she‘s been an important voice for women of color. The truth, she‘s an important voice for anyone who is human.

Into the home stretch and glad to be spending it with Ana, who in every breath she writes, there are worlds and worlds and worlds. #24in48

batsy Wow. Stacked! 6y
Reggie @batsy I‘m in the middle of it and it‘s just letters from one woman to her best friend and I can‘t describe the depth of their friendship. So good. 6y

For #MayBookFlowers #mexicanormexicanamericanwriters I'm ashamed to admit that the only author who came to mind was Sandra Cisneros. (I initially thought of Gabriel García Márquez, but although he died in Mexico, he's Colombian.) So, I did some research and Ana Castillo fascinates me. This is why I participate in these, to broaden my reading. Thank you, @RealLifeReading !
