All the Good Things | Clare Fisher

Twenty-one year old Beth is in prison. The thing she did is so bad she doesn't deserve ever to feel good again. But her counsellor, Erika, won't give up on her. She asks Beth to make a list of all the good things in her life. So Beth starts to write down her story, from sharing silences with Foster Dad No. 1, to flirting in the Odeon on Orange Wednesdays, to the very first time she sniffed her baby's head. But at the end of her story, Beth must confront the bad thing. What is the truth hiding behind her crime? And does anyone - even a 100% bad person - deserve a chance to be good?

Ohhhhh I can‘t wait to see what is inside. How fun! @Wonderwoman89

Wonderwoman89 @BarkingMadRun there is another package being delivered tomorrow. I hope you like everything. It was hard to find spooky things this time of year, so I went on a different idea. (edited) 2y

The writing is really very good! The climax well conveys the MC‘s state of mind. However, it is a hard read, probably not a good choice of material at the moment. Nor should anyone currently experiencing postpartum depression.

I think I‘m going to look for some Mma Romotswe on my TBR shelves. She makes everything right, but not in a Polly Anna way.

Tamra Reading has been very slow going - attention span short, kids home 24/7, extra work ramping up courses after extended break, and now I have another grad class starting. 🤪 No such thing as extra recreational reading. (edited) 4y
Suet624 I hope things get easier for you soon. (edited) 4y
Tamra @Suet624 thank you. I didn‘t mean for it to be a sad sack comment - first world problem! 4y

Aimeesue I love Europa Editions, but some of the stories are just too TOO right now. Lighter fare seems to ba all I can handle at the moment. 4y

Realized this might not be the best time to start this one based on the first blurb.

However I‘m hooked 2 chapters in - very natural reading dialogue. 👍🏾

Devastating. Achingly good read. Not the wisest choice to read on Mother‘s Day.

dariazeoli I‘m vegan, for the animals and for the planet. I donate to causes I believe in. I try to do as little harm to the world as I can. That last one is tricky 🤔 5y
Tove_Reads @dariazeoli 👍🏽 I‘m a vegan as well, and avoid palm oil and bad companies. I have rescue dogs, do volunteer work, donate, lend money via Kiva, recycle, live as ecological as I can, adopt animals to name a few 🙂 5y
Areader2 Hoping soon our state will ban plastic bags,(Boston banning dec 14)I try never to take them from any store and if I have too I recycle ♻️ to the grocery store because the local town pick up doesn‘t take them. We made a rain catcher for watering in the summer this year.I should volunteer more but I donate as much as possible to many different charities. 5y

It's been ages since I've had a book that I couldn't put down. Would have finished earlier if it wasn't for that pesky job. Beautifully written, full of hope and heartbreak.

I started reading this novel last week but I put it aside because of work! I'll be starting again soon and I'm so excited because I think my mood is also right for it now. Has this ever happened to you? This novel is the story of Bethany, a young woman in prison for a horrible crime. She's making a list of the good things in her life at the suggestion of her therapist. Her narrative reveals a touching story of forgiveness 🌸

candority Do you like the candle?! I've been looking at those on Etsy for years, but still haven't convinced myself to splurge on it! 7y
sumaiyya.books @candority Frostbeard is so good! When you sniff the candles they smell quite strong, but leave it in a room for up to an hour and it'll smell so freaking perfect! I highly recommend ❤️ 7y
candority Good to know, thank you! 7y

I loved words and Carrie Fisher writes then beautifully . So many beautiful sentences in this book. This is the story of Beth and why she has ended up where she has. There's a lot of time hopping but it's so easy to follow and you can't help but be drawn into the plot and characters. This book leaves you with hope in your heart. Would recommend.

If I could have given this book six stars I could. . So beautifully written and so insightful. I really felt for Beth and it just shows how the messages you receive when you are young can influence your thoughts about yourself. I loved this book
