This is the first play by Ibsen that I‘ve read. I think the translator (Michael Meyer) did a good job rendering the different classes in the language of the characters and the names/titles they address each other with. It‘s an interesting critique of marriage and the freedoms/responsibilities of women in the late 19th century in upper middle class society.
7.5/10
My March #BookSpin read (a couple days late I‘m afraid!)

Lady Susan and Hedda Gabler were great of read back to back. Both stories of manipulative women who try to toy with others lives. Loved reading to see how Hedda‘s plans and deceptions played out. For me this was a five star read. #litsyatoz #letterI. (Also learned from intro the A is pronounced like the A in garden.)

The play was a quick, yet thought provoking, read. I finished it one sitting. Ibsen wrote it in the late 1800s and it amazed me to see how some of the topics are still relevant: marriages of convenience, merging families and money. Timeless issues for our species.

Blaire Going to read this for my I️ for #litsyatoz 6y

RebeccaRenner @minkyb thanks! I only wish I knew where to find more! 7y
Susanita There was a Jeopardy clue about Hedda Gabler the other day, and all the contestants missed it as I was yelling at the TV. 7y

RebeccaRenner @Susanita That is so me. Every time there is a lit category on jeopardy, I totally destroy it, and the contestants are just lost. 7y

More reading for class. Previously read 'A Doll's House' with mixed feelings so slightly wary!
