The Widow of Wall Street
The Widow of Wall Street: A Novel | Randy Susan Meyers
A provocative new novel by bestselling author Randy Susan Meyers about the seemingly blind love of a wife for her husband as he conquers Wall Street, and her extraordinary, perhaps foolish, loyalty during his precipitous fall. Phoebe sees the fire in Jake Pierces belly from the moment they meet as teenagers. As he creates a financial dynasty, she trusts him without hesitationunaware his hunger for success hides a dark talent for deception. When Phoebe learnsalong with the rest of the worldthat her husbands triumphs are the result of an elaborate Ponzi scheme her world unravels. Lies underpin her life and marriage. As Jakes crime is uncovered, the world obsesses about Phoebe. Did she know her gilded life was fabricated by fraud? Did she partner with her husband in hustling billions from pensioners, charities, and CEOs? Was she his accomplice in stealing from their friends and neighbors? Debate rages as to whether love and loyalty blinded her to his crimes or if she chose to live in denial. While Jake is trapped in the web of his own deceit, Phoebe is faced with unbearable choice. Her children refuse to see her if she remains at their fathers side, but abandoning Jake, a man shes known and loved since childhood, feels cruel and impossible. From penthouse to prison, with tragic consequences rippling well beyond Wall Street, Randy Susan Meyerss latest novel exposes a woman struggling to redefine her life and marriage as everything she thought she knew crumbles around her. Meyers is quickly taking her place among the ranks of womens fiction authors who write big-issue novels that explore the inner lives of women in crisis without descending into melodrama or clich. Readers who enjoy Jodi Picoult will want to add Meyers to their to-read list (Booklist Review).

Ok wow 6000/10 I was enthralled with the Pierce story from page 1. I truly believe Phoebe had no clue what was going on, she just accepted her role as foolish and that broke my heart so when she left I cheered! One thing for sure, I don‘t think that Noah‘s death should have only covered 2 pages. I really wish she could have said goodbye but that was probably the point😂

Ripped from the headlines ~ the very obvious story of Ruth Madoff (wife of Bernie) who fleeced billions of dollars from unsuspecting investors. Phoebe falls in love with young Jake, a real go getter as a teen. Against her parents wishes she marries Jake who vows to show Phoebe‘s parents he‘s worthy. Ultimately, his drive for success & Phoebe‘s sense of loyalty destroys so many lives including their very own family. A quick read.

Cinfhen It‘s better than so-so but nothing that you MUST READ. 6y
Skeebies05 I skipped this one only because Elin Hilderbrand wrote a similar story. I may revisit this one if you liked it. 6y

Jess7 I‘ve read TWITW and Into the Water. TWITW was suspenseful but with one of the most annoying main characters [anna fox] I‘ve ever read lol. Into the water is pretty good—- but tons of characters — you‘ll need to jot down all the names to keep them all straight 🤗 6y

I liked this book. The story was told through the wife's point of view. The deception was devastating to her and her family. It was a really interesting story that took place over the lifetime of her marriage. It is just so hard to believe it can happen but we all know it has.

Today's Word: THOUGHTFUL
#Yesvember17 #YESvember @Libby1
THE WIDOW OF WALL STREET by Randy Susan Meyers has its tense moments and a truly thoughtful ending. Thoughtful in the sense that do we really think about what we do every day that may or may not harm others.

4⭐️. An evocative story full of deception and greed, and a woman‘s ability to survive the devastation. Randy Susan Meyer has written a compelling and powerful story, just like something out of the headlines. But the real story is not Jake‘s deception and greed. It‘s about Phoebe and their two children and the effect of his actions on them. See more https://lharvey250.tumblr.com/post/161170186744/the-widow-of-wall-street-randy-s...

This one works for #fallintoreading for #goldandsilver for the cover and for #septembowie for #underpressure and@#fallintoreading for #guilty because the husband in the book was under pressure the entire book because he was guilty of running a Ponzi scheme.

Cinfhen I have this book but haven't gotten to it yet! Great choice #multiplayer 🖤💛 7y
Cinfhen Did you like the book? Should I bump it up my TBR??? 7y
Mamashep @Cinfhen if I gave star rankings, I'd give this one a 3.5 stars. I did like it quite a lot; didn't love it, mostly because I wanted to slap both of the main characters throughout the book. It would make a great book club choice. 7y

I liked the development of phoebes character even if she did really make me mad with her choices. This book shined a light on how easy it is to be blinded by those we love! A good beach/pool read!

A story inspired by the Madoff Ponzi scheme which led to financial ruin for thousands of people. The story is told from the point of view of the criminal and his wife. The writing was so wonderful that I found myself agonizing with the husband as he became more and more overwhelmed by what he had done. Bonus - the multiple references to Gone With The Wind! #prettycovers

I really like this. Having come from the world of Finance myself, the author delivers the information accurately without a drop of dryness. I think she's drawn the characters perfectly. Even the husband who is terribly selfish and flawed has a certain purity in his motives. Phoebe is also wonderfully personified. She isn't the expected victimized doe. She has strength. They love each other so the first page when she hates him is fascinating.

SilversReviews Thanks for your comments. Enjoyed them. 7y

If you know the story of Bernie Madoff you know this book. Like straight up his and his wife's story. And her fictionalization of some things were boring and I didn't care about any of it and her writing isn't for me. A shame, too, because I enjoyed Accidents of Marriage.
