Fowl Language
Fowl Language: Welcome to Parenting | Brian Gordon
9 posts | 15 read | 8 to read
Parenting can be a magical journey full of bliss and wonder . . . if you're on the right meds. For the rest of us, it's another thing altogether. Fowl Language Comics takes an unvarnished look at the tedium and aggravation of parenting, while never forgetting that the reason we put up with those little jerks is that we love them so damn much. By poking fun at the daily struggles parents face, these cartoons help all of us feel less alone in our continual struggle to stay sane. Brian Gordon, creator of Fowl Language Comics, has two small children of his own and knows well the trials and tribulations that go along with raising them. With more than eighteen years of experience in humorous illustration, writing, and cartooning, Brian's visual point of view is memorable, authentic, and instantly recognizable. From Brian: "They say 'write what you know.' Well, I dont know much, but I do know what its like to be the father of two brilliant, beautiful, bat-shit-crazy kids." Launched in July 2013, the relatable humor of Fowl Language broke out on HuffPost Parents, Pop Sugar Moms, Bored Panda, Awkward Family Photos, and countless other humor and parenting blogs. Thanks to more than 200,000 fans on social media, including Facebook, Tumblr, and Instagram, it continues to grow in popularity at a rapid pace.

A quick read this morning before the kiddo woke up. Since I found her having a very serious conversation with some of her toys last night at 11:00 I was...sympathetic to these comics. Parenting really is the very best and the very worst all at once.

😂 My aunt used to take us trick or treating and had to check most of the Reese‘s to be sure they weren‘t poisoned! 😂

Read this again tonight and I laughed just as hard. 😂 I love books like this because there are days when you feel like you must be doing something wrong because your kids are driving you CRAZY but it turns out other parents have experienced the exact same thing! Then there are other days when the kids are just so darn cute you don't want them to grow up too fast. 😩

TrishB My daughter couldn't say 'micro' when she was little and replaced it with 'michael'. We still call it the michaelwave now and she's 15! 7y
sammisho My daughter used to call pancakes "panapakes" and my son calls zucchini "zombie bikini"...the whole family does it now! 7y

Lindy A great cartoon for @DuckOfDoom 😀 7y
Books88 Awww I know!!! My littlest says "cowees" for colors, and "airways" for Ariel (the mermaid ??) 7y
Reviewsbylola Yeah, my feelings towards my kids fluctuate minute by minute. 😂 7y
Leniverse We have lots of words that the whole family have adopted from something the kids said. My favourite is "Dalek bread" for "garlic bread". (Yes, we are all Dr. Who fans here.) 7y
angrylilasian @AJBowers I love it! My son says "minjas" instead of "ninjas" and I never correct him. Especially if he's singing the TMNT theme song. ? 7y
angrylilasian @Reviewsbylola LOL! But aren't they adorable when they're sleeping? 😍 7y
angrylilasian @Leniverse This is my favorite mispronunciation ever!! 7y
Leniverse 😁It's not so much a mispronunciation as a case of mishearing. One day I asked him if he wanted some garlic bread and he demanded to know why it was called Dalek bread?! Did Daleks eat it? Was it made from Daleks!? 😂 7y
cleoh My sister coined the term "washdisher" and my brother "the oneth of the month", phrases that we all still use today ? 7y
