This is such a striking poem. The imagery he paints with his words is so vivid. It's my first time reading Wilfred Owen and I love everything so far.

I studied Wilfred Owen in school, so I'm very interested to revisit these. A few lines from his poetry have always stuck with me, especially from Dulce et Decorum Est.

Penguin little black Classics are the perfect trainride companions 💕 I‘m very much enjoying all the poetry books that are part of the series! This one is about the dreadful things the author lived through in world war 1, it‘s very appalling, the poems reflect so detailed on the horrors, it‘s painful to read, but important nontheless. i‘m just so glad I havn‘t had to live through war until now - let‘s hope that will never change...

Poet and World War I soldier Owen writes about the horrors of trench warfare in these raw, unpatriotic poems. Owen was killed in action one week before the armistice was signed in 1918, ending the war.

Yesterday's #booktober theme made me feel like horrible person. I couldn't think of a single book even remotely related to South America that I had read, let alone owned. Today's theme isn't much better. I own very few books (we're talking 30, 35 tops) and this was the only text-only cover I could find. Not even the load of library books I have in rn had text-only covers. This booktober-thing is turning out to be a challenge. 😂
