Excited to join the #HashTagBrigade for a reread of a favorite book. This is a new edition from others I‘ve read, part of the Puffin Collection.
@BarkingMadRead Please add me to your tag list. I think I may be able to stay on task with this one 😁

May wrap up:
Along with those pictured I made progress in the #192025 challenge (years 2000 & 2004) 65/106 complete. D and K for #AtoZ with G, Q, X and Y remaining. And 3 more #BookChain prompts completed for 23/34.

Loved Prophet Song but don‘t think it will beat out Brotherless Night for best of the year.
My only nonfiction book of the month but it was a good one.
How is it June already? And how is it June 1, 2024? My son turned 40 today…I just cannot figure out how that happened so damn fast
Anyway, here‘s my #Bookspin plan. I thought I might be ready to make a commitment to actual titles but finished up May going completely off plan so loosy goosy it is.

Playing catch up today. # TLT #ThreeListThursday
This was a fun trip down memory lane. We saw Earthquake in Portland in a theater that was equipped with the new surround sound technology that made you feel the earthquake in your seat. It was quite thrilling and terrifying. I will forever love The Sting and I can‘t believe Willy Wonka was not on the list so it‘s on mine 😁

#WondrousWednesday
1) Starting a non-profit and advocating for the clients we served
2) when I worked full time I liked 4 10‘s best when I could make it happen
3) My grandfather wanted one of his 5 children to be an accountant. All 5 went to college (which in their circumstance was quite an accomplishment) but he got 3 teachers, an engineer and a CEO instead. It always pleased me that I filled that dream although he didn‘t live to see it.
@Eggs
#5JoysFriday
1) Two quilts ready to go to the quilter
2) Starting my next quilt today
3) Bridgerton
4) Buddy read with Amanda
5) @Eggs post that helped move me out of a bit of melancholy. Littens are the best.
I started thinking that I wouldn‘t have 5 things to share. Sitting in the pocket of reflection is really a meditation on gratitude. Such a wonderful exercise. Thanks @DebinHawaii for this weekly opportunity. 💜🌸💜
The author‘s intent was to show how Anne‘s time as maid of honor to Queen Claude of France shaped her into the Queen of England she became. Little documented evidence of Anne remains so there is a lot of conjecture with little snippets of record to back up her premise. I felt that Anne spent a lot of time on the fringes of this biography. I do agree with the author conclusion of Anne and there‘s no question that Anne continues to fascinate. 3🌟
#5JoysFriday
This week‘s joys are all about Disneyland. Wrapped up 3 jammed packed days this evening. In no particular order:
1) a new compatible travel partner who loves it as much as I do.
2) Some amazing meals
3) New to me rides: Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance😁, Guardians of the Galaxy😬, Mickey and Minnie‘s Runaway Railway🥰
4) Old favorites: It‘s a Small World, Mr. Toad‘s Wild Ride, 🌟Thunder Mountain Railway🌟
5) Goofy!
It was 1970 Derek and the Dominos Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs. One and done.

The history of the Dance Theatre of Harlem and the founding ballerinas is important to see the determination of young black girls striving to fulfill their dreams. Making their dreams a reality and forming a life long sisterhood under the tutelage of Arthur Mitchell is art history that needed to be told. Thanks to the author & The Swans for sharing their story. Thanks to the publisher & NetGalley for the opportunity to read this fascinating book.
#SundayFunday
I reread the tagged book every year or so and I have reread Dune, LOTR, HP, The Hunger Games and a few others over the years.
@BookmarkTavern
Tagged was best of the week.
I read six books, three of my May #ReadYourKindle numbers, one of my #SeriesLove24 authors and May‘s #BookedinTime #BiblicalFiction choice. A good reading week for me.

50% left of Swans. I know very little about ballet but am enjoying this story of the building of The Dance Theatre of Harlem and the ballerina‘s who found a home there. Just got approved for Red Side on audio. Read Shades of Grey years ago and am looking forward to its sequel. Started a buddy read of the Follett with my daughter. We plan to read the series.

Surprise book mail is the best mail! @Gissy Thank you for the #LitsyLove reply and especially for the book, bookmark, stickers, etc. I so enjoyed having you for my swap partner in the #FoundFamily swap and sending these extras was the sweetest thing. YOU are the sweetest!

This book has shown me I like my dystopian fiction to have an element of the impossible to it. Prophet Song is dystopian fiction that feels just a few votes away from possible. Riveting and harrowing. 4.5 🌟
Grateful for the beautiful day to offset the despair created by the book.

I hate raisins and now I know why, suffering of any kind is 👎🏼 😂. Sorry for the language
@CBee
1) I remember the first historical fiction book I borrowed from my school library. It was set in Spain. I have such a clear picture in my memory of the setting but can‘t remember the title to save my life.
2) I‘m using the library and Libby frequently since retirement. Also, trying to read off my shelves which my husband calls my personal bookstore.
3) Prophet Song. Unsettling but good.

Apologies to anyone who likes this song but IMO Midnight at the Oasis by Maria Muldaur is like finger nails on a chalkboard 😬
What I am listening to this week is https://youtu.be/sTYyzSI3eEw?si=hPgoVnf5-YS8VkGW. Dear Insecurity by Brandy Clark with Brandi Carlile, a song i needed at 13, which led me to new to me The Secret Sisters If the World Was a House

#BookedinTime #BiblicalFiction
I was going to read Mary, Called Magdalene by Margaret George but its size made me change my mind. I just happened across this on Libby. A short novella read by Meryl Streep imagines a different Mary than the one we think we know. 4 🌟
@Cuilin @dabbe
So excited to know Charlotte McConaghy has a new book coming out. It‘s going to be a long wait.
#WeekendReads
Started Prophet Song this morning. Will finish Buried in a Bog tomorrow on my drive to Portland and back. I‘m 40% into Thorns and will likely bail and move onto Swans.
@rachelsbrittain
I am DNFing at about 50% but not marking it as a bail. It is totally me, not the book. The writing is good, the short chapters make it an easy, fast read. I can easily see why it‘s on the #WomensPrize longlist. The mental health cycle it deals with is hard and I am avoiding picking it back up. Time to call it.
#5JoysFriday
1) 1st silent book club meeting, won a library mug in a raffle
2) All the birds that visit my dad‘s feeder and also a seagull, a wood duck and new species to us the Red crossbill
3) Hit 100K litfluence
4) #LitsyLove letters, writing and receiving
5) Sunny days always

May 5 through US Mother‘s Day is always a bit tough so I always try to find things that bring good memories. Today‘s #TuesdayTunes is a favorite piece of my mom‘s. Toselli‘s Serenade with a beautiful nature video by Tatiana Blue. Enjoy!

All books I was excited to add to my kindle at one time or another. Now excited for the motivation to read them. Thanks @CBee 💚🌷💚
#AwesomeApril Possibly the first time ever that I not only stuck with my goal for the readathon I also completed all my intended books as well with time to spare.
@Andrew65
Although The Maiden in the title refers to Scotland‘s guillotine it is a story of women in 1600‘s whose lives are dictated by the men and fate. A mother trying to raise two daughters after the father gambles away their funds, a man grooming a young girl for his future pleasure and abusing every other female in his path, a man who needs a wife but doesn‘t want one. The women trying to survive the hand they‘ve been dealt. 4🌟

#ReadYourKindle I‘ve read half of this list over the last 2 months. Looking forward to seeing May‘s numbers.
@CBee
I‘m not reading as much non-fiction as I‘d like to be but these all have been excellent. I still think about the Winterson but there‘s lots of potential for others to claim the top spot.
I‘ve read some great books this year. I think Brotherless Night will be hard to beat as best of year.
The 2nd day of the month continues to be one of my favorite bookish days. I love building my board every month. I love going to bed on the first knowing the following morning I get to start my day with coffee and #BookspinBingo.
Thanks Sarah for the joy this brings.

I love looking at my bingo board. It is a reminder of all the places I visited, the historical times I explored, all the people I got to know and love and some not so much. April was a great month for all of that. Looking forward to where May will take me.

#ReadathonUpdate
Yesterday I finished The Passionate Tudor and read the Nancy Drew in one sitting. I hope to finish Sourcery today.

@Andrew65
I did not know much about Queen Mary I, England‘s first female monarch. Weir does a good job of taking us from her happy childhood through the torment of being separated from her mother and on through her reign which ultimately is considered a failure. She had strength but was often over run by doubts, easily influenced in some things and staunch and unrelenting in others, ultimately being named Bloody Mary.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
I am beyond thrilled about this. I haven‘t been in years but Jane and Much Ado About Nothing will make a great couple of days in Ashland.
#Roll100
Using this challenge to help clear my audio backlog. I didn‘t get any of my April books read but hoping for better results in May.
@PuddleJumper
#AwesomeApril
Not sure how much reading time I‘ll have over the 9 days but at a minimum I hope to finish my 3 current reads and read this month‘s #NancyDrewBR.
It‘s not too late to join in this set your own goals readathon.
