Lori and her husband Bill (and Aunt Dimity) visit Derek's father at his families estate. There are threats to Derek's cousin, Lori is determined to get to the bottom of it. I cannot remember the details of all of the stories in this series, I forget them as soon as I finish the book. The characters stay with me though, and each time I read Aunt Dimity it is like visiting good friends.

1. Not a specific memory - I remember going to the library a lot as a child - I loved getting and reading books! (and you had to go to the library to do your research papers and homework as well!!)
2. The library - I still love going to the library!
3. Tagged is one of my current reads.
Consider yourself tagged if you are reading this!
Make a great day everyone 💐
The story did not grab me - Jaime is bored with his life (it seems), insecure about his relationship with Clare. They meet younger couple Kit and Melia and this injects some life into Jaime (and Clare) - then it starts to unravel. Kit goes missing, and question becomes if Jaime did it - or was he set up? ⬇️
I think these stories are perfect. Gamache and Beauvoir and Lacoste must solve another murder in Three pines. All the characters are there - Clara and Peter, Ruth, Myrna, Gabri and Olivier. The woman murdered, Madeleine, seems perfect, loved who would want to put out her star?? Gamache's past (the Arnot case) is still a problem. ⬇️
#WondrousWednesday Thanks for the tags @Eggs and @dabbe -

The story of siblings Danny and Maeve growing up in the Dutch House and the many people who came into their lives over the years. The story is told from Danny's POV. Patchett nails the way children interpret and understand the things that go on in families that no one explains to them, and how those interpretations and understandings change as children grow into adults. It is a beautiful story, beautifully written and narrated. ⬇️
Korede's sister Ayoola's boyfriends keep dying. Korede starts to worry when Ayoola is attracted to Tade, a doctor Korede works with and likes. Korede shares all of her thoughts and secrets to a patient in a coma - who wakes up. Ayoola's incredible narcissism and Korede constantly getting dumped on by everyone in her life wore me out. The background on the sisters parents did help explain their relationship. ⬇️
Plan to finish all three this week and pick up some new books at the library -
Make a great day everyone 🙂
The books I am currently reading are a great way to start this month's #BookSpinBingo - thank you for hosting @TheAromaofBooks -

1. It's not springtime without fishing.
2. Favorite book of April is tagged (A Kiss Before Dying - Ira Levin)
3. Special plans - trip to Clearwater Florida with a friend.

On another note - finished 2 books for #AwesomeApril readathon - thanks for hosting @Andrew65 -
Make a great day everyone 🙂
Adding another #SeriesLove2024 to my May reading - at times I do get my story lines crossed (so many quaint villages, close knit neighbors and mysterious deaths to keep track of 😉)
Make a great day everyone 🌞
This has been my least favorite in the series. Mrs. Hooper dies mysteriously and all of the neighbors in Finch suspect one another, but protect one another because they did not like Mrs. Hooper (big gossip and trouble maker). Lori (MC) is out to find the truth with the help of Nicholas Fox, the vicars nephew. I still like the characters but in this one Lori has a “wandering eye“ for Nicholas, her husband accepts it, nothing happens but ⬇️
A writer, Horowitz, is asked by an ex-detective,Hawthorne, to write about him and his case. Horowitz agrees. The case, a woman who just planned her funeral is murdered. Her son is a famous actor, she has a crime from her past where some feel justice wasn't served. And Horowitz can't get a handle on Hawthorne. Overall, good read. Will continue the #SeriesLove2024 . #AwesomeApril first book finished.
Make a great day everyone 😊
Plan to finish my current reads and then start the next two books I have from the library for the #AwesomeApril readathon - thanks @Andrew65 for hosting.

Perfectly written and executed. A thriller which involves Bud, three sisters Dorothy, Ellen and Marion, their wealthy father (Leo Kingship) and Ellen's friend Gordon Gant. I have seen (and enjoyed) many of the movies based on Levin's books, but I have not read any of his books - so glad I started with this one!! Overall - a great read!

1. Katherine Hepburn - Bringing Up Baby
2. Meryl Streep - anything
3. Cate Blanchett - Mrs. America (mini series)

Chief Inspector Gamache, Agents Beauvoir and LaCoste, Clara, Peter, Ruth, Myrna, Gabri, and Olivier - I feel attached to the characters and Three Pines. In this one CC dePoitiers is murdered, and no one seemed to like her. Gamache is also working on a side case - to solve the murder of a homeless woman named Elle. Overall, very good read. ⬇️

I thought the ending to the last one would motivate me to read this one - it did not. First book in series was great, second was low pick, and after sending my hold back twice on this one, I finally accepted it. Each time I go to read - it is meh - I'm just not excited to get back to it. #unpopularopinion but I am letting go of this series.

1. My husband
2. Severus Snape

Ernest Cunningham is going to solve some mysteries during his family reunion. Creative murder mystery, a few twists and turns. I enjoyed the writer talking to the reader during the chapters and learning about each family member as Ernest solved the mysteries. My expectations may have been set too high. Overall a good read.
Thanks @ShananigansReads for hosting the #SpringBreakReadathon . I finished one book and am about 80% done with the tagged -

Stevie is attempting to solve the 1936 kidnapping of Iris and Alice Ellingham (wife and daughter of Albert Ellingham, founder of Ellingham Academy,) and she is trying to solve the murders of Iris, Dolores, Hayes, Ellie and Dr. Fenton This book (3rd in series) wrapped up everything. It was a bit too long, felt like some was filler, but overall a good story and good ending.⬇️

These are the two books I will focus on during the #SpringBreakReadathon .

Lori is sent to Wyrdhurst Hall to examine the library - the owner of the house (Nicole) is experiencing some hauntings - Claire and Edward are the young couple that once graced the Hall - and Lori must help Claire solve a problem (from beyond) - a good read as part of the series.

#hailthebail has been very freeing this month - allowed me to read more than I bailed on and now I'm reading books I really enjoy!
This is where I am in #BookSpinBingo - not sure what else I'll finish this month with work and the holiday coming up - the current reads may end up on my April list 🙂
Make a great day everyone 🐣
In the second book to the series Stevie is still trying to solve the 1930s kidnapping/murders at Ellingham Academy. Her friends are more involved this time (Janelle, Nate and Vi, and Larry - the security officer) - David (her complicated in a teenage way maybe boyfriend) has gone off the rails, but has a plan? ⬇️
A perfect first book to a series. Chief Inspector Gamache and his team (Inspector Beauvoir and Agent Nichol and Agent Lacoste) are investigating the death of Jane Neal in Three Pines (Quebec). The cast of characters, setting, and mystery are well written. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

#hailthebail - read 4 and bailed on 4 this month. Bailed on good books - definitely a me not you moment. Almost embarrassed to bail on “good“ books - but I have to be honest - they just aren't cutting it for me right now.
Due to the bails I did complete my goals for the #BooksinBloom readathon 🤣
Make a great day everyone 💐
Stevie is excited to be attending Ellingham. She is a true crime enthusiast and wants to solve the mystery of 3 disappearances at the school in the 1930s. The founders wife and daughter were kidnapped, and never seen again, even after Ellingham paid the ransom. At the same time, a student Dottie, went missing. ⬇️
My goal for #BooksinBloom readathon will be to finish my 3 current reads -

Added two new series to my reading list - I enjoy getting to know the characters and setting on the level a series allows. Glad to have found a few good ones right now. Series are like several seasons of a good tv show.
Some stand- alones have done this for me ( usually Stephen Kings books) Stand-alones are like a good movie.
#SeriesLove2024 @TheSpineView @Andrew65 thanks for hosting.

I enjoyed the Christie and Duncan novels - but this one......not so much. Moving on -
Make a great day everyone 😊
Just started the tagged - so it can't count!
The third one is listed as nonfiction - it was a quick fun read for anyone who reads cozy mysteries that take place in a quaint English village.
Thanks for the tag @TheSpineView - took me a while to think about and review the books I've read in the past few years ( I don't read much non-fiction)

Love the idea - execution was not good for me. Hard to follow the world author was creating - could not visualize it.
On to another book -

Lori is planning a perfect first Christmas for her family. A tramp, Kit, passes out outside of her house. He is taken to the hospital, in a coma. Lori and Father Julian are determined to find out who he is and how he is connected to Finch. This one was a bit darker than the others (the war memories). Overall, a nice “here is the meaning of Christmas“ cozy.
