This is book #1 in the series A Rachel McKenzie Mystery. Ellen Hargreaves is found dead on the island of Uist in the Upper Hebrides. Her death was ruled an accident but Rachel is convinced there's more to the story. I loved the setting of the isle of Uist and the characters of Rachel and Selena. It was a fast-paced mystery that I read until the final page and surprised ending.

EadieB I am looking forward to more books by this author. If you like gripping crime thrillers, then you will love this book. 17h

@debinhawaii (thanks for the tag, too! 😘)

1. Even though Matt's head hurts and has 22 staples in it, the doctor got all of the skin cancer. 😅
2. Survived two weeks of going back to work at the ol' high school. TGIF never felt so good! 😂
3. Caught up on #LitsyLove letters. For now. 😀
4. Sitting out on the back porch with Matt and the pups during dusk.
5. Kate and Pippa enjoying the grass.
Happy weekend! 🤩

Even though there were some bad news this week, there was still a lot of joy as well.

1) Nemo, of course. So much love 💖
2) Received two lovely food packages from two lovely people
3) Got two awesome books from @VaniBarelyReads ❤ (she will show up here always, because she's my #1 joy)
4) Free kiwi when I needed something healthy
5) Awesome vegan empanada at the local food festival 🎉

#5JoysFriday @DebinHawaii

UwannaPublishme Your empanada looks so good. My favorite are the unhealthy cherry empanadas with powdered sugar. 😋 1d
Jari-chan @UwannaPublishme Oh wow, those must taste amazing 🤩 1d
DebinHawaii A lovely list of joys that I hope helps with the bad news. 💛💛💛 The empanada looks delicious! Thank your for sharing & spreading the joy! 🤗 11m
Jari-chan @DebinHawaii It sure does! Focusing on the little joys is so important! So thank you for this lovely idea❤️ 8m

1. Fire of Unknown Origin - Blue Oyster Cult (1981)
2. Out of the Blue - Electric Light Orchestra (1977)
3. Super Trouper - ABBA (1980)

Any one of these I could listen to over and over again.

Crazeedi ELO, yes! And yes!! 2d
dabbe My hubby loves #1, too! Thanks for sharing. 🤩🤩🤩 1d
Bookwomble I loved ELO Out of the Blue when it was first released - wore out the vinyl! In the early 90s, I replaced it on CD, but thought too much of it was filler and ditched it. I bought it for a third time last week and I love it again! 🎻☔💙 7h

1) OK Computer (Radiohead, 1997)
2) Our Time in Eden (10,000 Maniacs, 1992)
3) How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful (Florence + The Machine, 2015)

And lots of other runners-up. :-)

@dabbe

ImperfectCJ And just to clarify my evaluation system, a "favorite album" isn't just one with songs I love and can listen to on repeat, but rather an album that hangs as a whole, with each song leading into the next in a way that makes me only want to listen to it in order and rarely (if ever) hit shuffle. 2d
TheBookHippie I agree with your synopsis. I love Florence. 2d
BarbaraBB Radiohead and Florence 🩷 2d

dabbe @ImperfectCJ Agree 💯. An album that tells a story. 😀 2d
dabbe 🤩🤩🤩 Thanks for sharing. 2d
Billypar I love #1, but I feel like 10,000 Maniacs is so underrated. They got pushed into this easy listening/ adult contemporary category, but there's so much depth to this album and Natalie Merchant's solo work. 2d
merelybookish OMG I was obsessed with that 10,000 Maniacs album!! What a fun one to include. 2d
ImperfectCJ @Billypar Agreed! There's so much friction between the lyrics and the way the music sounds in both her solo work and the songs with the Maniacs. I feel like she really pioneered that in rock/pop music, and then groups like Weezer took off with it. 2d

I can still use the word “album“, right? 😂

These choices could change 10 seconds from now.
1. AUTUMN by George Winston. My fave album of all time. That will never change.
2. A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS with music by Vince Guaraldi: I listen to this year-round.
3. TALES OF MYSTERY AND IMAGINATION by the Alan Parsons Project. Reimagined Poe at its best.

dabbe @UwannaPublishme Yay! I can listen to AUTUMN 24-7 all year. 🤩😂🤗 1d
dabbe @Eggs You poor thing! Hope you're feeling better today! 💙🩵💙 1d
Amiable Oh my gosh, love George Winston! My husband and I used to listen to that album all the time in college when we were dating. 1d
dabbe @Amiable Autumn/winter have always been my favorite seasons, especially since living in Phoenix (hell). When that temp changes and I play this album, my heart is at complete peace. 💛🍂🧡 1d
Amiable @dabbe Autumn and spring are my favorite seasons —that‘s when New England shines (in my opinion). I also can‘t stand the heat (or the humidity, although I don‘t think you get a lot of that?), so I feel for you as summer approaches. 😬 1d

1. My library growing up had meeting rooms behind doors that were built into the walls, which was so cool, and had a hill that we'd run up and down anytime we passed. But my favorite memory is @WildAlaskaBibliophile asking me out on our first date
2. A local bookstore or library. I rarely buy books from Amazon or B&N unless I have a gift card
3. I haven't read much this past week, but I'll start the tagged book soon.

1. My library had a discovery room that I loved! It was the size of a small bedroom with lots of things to touch and feel. It was only open certain hours, which made seem more special.
2 definitely the library (including the Libby app), it‘s where I work!
3. The Reappearance of Rachel Price on audio; Family Family in a physical book

1. I got to visit the British Library in 2019, which was basically everything I hoped for. But I ALSO visited the Chester Beatty in Dublin 3 times in that same year, and got to view texts I never dreamed of getting to be in the same room with, some of them thousands of years old.
2. Library! I currently have 4 physical library cards I use digitally, as well as 2 virtual libraries.
3. 😅 I have 10 books in progress.
