This is a VERY old #NetGalley ARC 😅
so-so4th Ernaux and I just couldn‘t connect with this one. I couldn‘t figure out what I was reading until about 50%. Only reason why I didn‘t bail on this one was because it was a short read.

I‘ve been searching for this book for years and I know that we have found each other at the right time.
pickThis was a roller-coaster of emotions! The story opens with our main character, Ella, being released from prison. What follows is her trying to find her footing in the outside world and flashbacks to what led to her incarceration.
We‘re also given POVs (past and present) from her Mom, Helen, and her ex-boyfriend, Jude.
I loved it. This is perfect for fans of second-chance stories and mother/daughter relationships.

pickIt‘s a wrap on this trilogy! Loved it. I started this not expecting much, but this story took me by surprise and I became very invested.

pickWhat I enjoyed the most about this book is the 3 different POVs, even though sometimes it took a little bit of adjusting from one to the other (this happened mostly with Nick).
The story centers around a Chinese-American family and how trying to shape fate affected them. I loved it. I loved the dynamics and how the author developed the characters and presented the story.

pickFirst Rebecca Serle and I loved it! This was a very unique concept for a story and it was executed so well.
Loved that I did not see the twist in the story coming at all, and the ending was perfect.
Can‘t wait to read her backlist!

New audiobook…I‘ve seen so many mixed reviews about this that I‘ve been looking forward to reading it to see how I feel about it.

The 2nd installment of this trilogy was so good! I am loving the audiobook narrators for these books.
Had to sign-up for an Audible free trial to get the third book, my library does not have it and I just have to know how this ends! 😅

so-so3.5⭐️ I liked this. The story felt very raw from the get-go, but then it started to lose me towards the end.
I recognize what the author was trying to do, and I know that she was looking to convey Catalina‘s roller-coaster of emotions for what she was going through, and even though I never lost interest in the story, it didn‘t live up to the hype for me.

pickI finished this audiobook so fast! Very informative. I have a friend who is very deep into this culture and I recognized a lot of the traits she‘s displaying in the ones mentioned in this book. 😕
The length of the book was also perfect, and you didn‘t get over-dumped with a lot of stats and facts all at once.
Needed another audiobook to break up the ??? from “Alguien como tú” ?
This is fascinating! I‘ve watched many MLM docs and exposés, and I‘m loving the more in-depth backstories in this book.
Not even done with chapter 1 and this is already messy…and I‘m here for it! 😅

so-soI admit I grabbed this because of the cover. And because the 5th anniversary of my Mom‘s passing is fast-approaching and I felt drawn to see how someone else dealt with their grief.
What I found inside were simple poems, but some of them felt like the warmest hug and words on paper of how I feel about life at this moment.

pickWonderful debut! The story centers around Layla, who is engaged to Andy. Something unique about them is that they both have the same last name. Layla‘s BFF, Sera, watches a documentary which suggests that Andy‘s family enslaved Layla‘s.
This story is very unique and it brought up a roller-coaster of emotions.
If going into a deep-dive about family histories while dealing with the consequences in the present day is your thing, read this!
