I‘m making progress. I did decide to go back and add all the books I could from what I‘ve read in 2024 so far. I‘m a little surprised that there are so many squares where I haven‘t read any books that meet that requirement.

1. A book recommendation with some very helpful information in it, because let‘s face it: if there‘s an herbal route I can go instead of starting on a high risk medication, I‘d much rather go herbal.
2. Putting together another batch of earrings to sell, as I‘ve sold through most of my stock.
3. Learning to read with a Kipper deck.
4. My partner sent me this photo of one of the irises in our yard.
5. My son completed his geometry class.⬇️
I cannot recommend this book enough. While there are lots of books about the healing properties of herbs, this one stands out above the rest. Not only is the information within backed up with lists of scientific journals, but the author also gives you reasons why the supplements work, what they shift in the body in order to treat imbalances. The author gives possible side effects, so you can make an educated choice. They also teach you ⬇️
1. Florence + the Machine — Ceremonials
2. Bob Dylan — Blood on the Tracks
3. Miles Davis — Birth of the Cool
Runner Up: Getz/Gilberto — Stan Getz & João Gilberto

Unless I really step up my game, I‘m not gonna come even close to finishing this in 2024, but it makes me laugh, so it‘s a win, right? To add to that, it‘s been 2 weeks, and I‘m actually still working on it, which is longer than I work on some challenges. Fun times! 📚📚📚
#BingoBoardFromHell2024
I‘m debating whether or not to add the books I read in the first 3 months of the year, since it‘s a year long challenge. That would boost my numbers.
I checked this series out from the graphic novel section of the library today. Honestly, I mostly just chose it because the library had the entire series (3 books) available to check out in one go. I got them for my 16 year old son. I think, if I hit on the right books or the right genre, then he‘ll end up being a reader. I‘ve just been striking out on most of the ones I‘ve chosen for him so far. However, today I caught him in his room reading! ⬇️
This may be the last quote I share from this book, because taking the time to make these posts is greatly slowing down how quickly I‘m getting through the book. It‘s just that this one was too good to not share. This book is so full of brilliant ideas. I want to share them all! 📚🤍
How is it that I‘ve gotten this far in my life without knowing this? I don‘t remember anyone ever telling me this. It feels like this secret truth that is so important that everyone should know it. It feels life-changing. If I focus on effort rather than outcome, maybe all the blockages that I‘ve been struggling with for decades will melt away. Suddenly, it doesn‘t matter if I succeed or not. It matters that I put in the effort, that I try.
Here‘s a pic of my roll for the #DiceyDalliance challenge. I think that, next time, I may choose from only library books instead, but it‘ll still be nice to get another book off of #MountTBR.
First up for #DiceyDalliance is this book. I rolled a seven with my eight-sided die. It was only after I looked at it closer that I realized it was eight-sided. Why I only chose seven books, I don‘t know. This book doesn‘t have good reviews here on Litsy (or any reviews at all), but I‘m gonna give it a go. #UpNext
I was working yesterday, so I‘m playing catch-up.
1. I really enjoy packing a selection of meats and cheeses and hoagie rolls so everyone can build their own sandwich. I haven‘t done that in years. Maybe I‘ll have to change that.
2. You Are Here: Poetry in the Natural World, edited by Ada Limón

1. Yes. When I was in my early 20s, I stopped into a HS library I‘d never been to before. My university was offering one of its Spanish classes at the HS, and it was a required class for me and also the only one that wasn‘t already full. When I walked in, the librarian greeted me by name, and she was so excited to see me. It ended up that she was the librarian at the library I went to when I was a little girl, and she remembered me years later. ⬇️
My only dilemma this morning is which book to read first, since I‘ve got several that I‘ve checked out from the library, and I don‘t think I‘ll be able to finish them all before I need to return them.
If I can‘t decide, I‘ll just continue with the third book in this series. I‘m trying to get through as many of them as I can before they are removed from Audible‘s free section at the end of the month.

I stayed up an hour and a half past my bedtime so I could finish this. This book is so much better than the first book in the series. All the stars! ⭐️ ✨
My version of #hyggehour or #litsolace involved me curling up in bed with my Kindle and reading this book for an hour. No candles. No snacks. Just a dimly lit room, ambient noise (waves crashing) in the background and a good book.
This came in the mail today. I‘m excited to use it to help me in my Kipper and Lenormand deck readings. #UpNext
I made it 85 pages in (48% of the way through), and I just couldn‘t make myself read any longer. I‘m apparently not the target audience for this book. It was so boring, and I didn‘t find the main character interesting at all. It was a slog, y‘all. Also, I thought her psychiatrist was irritating. I‘m glad to have this one off #MountTBR. #HailTheBail #DNF
I‘m currently working my way through this, but I‘m not sure I‘ll be able to get past the fact that she records her conversations. I mean, not only does she record her conversations with her psychiatrist, but she also records conversations she has at work, ones she had at a film group she went to, that sort of thing. It makes me really uncomfortable for some reason, so I may have to DNF it. I‘m gonna try for a little bit longer. One last chance.
What I‘ve come to learn about myself is that, no matter how good my intentions are, I rarely stick with a reading challenge that someone else sets for me. So, I‘ve created my own seven-layered challenge. It can be done over and over again. I can try to get all seven checked off in a day or in a week. Whatever feels right. It allows for mood reading and will also help me pick up different types of books in different formats. ⬇️
I have officially become one of those people who look up artwork inspired by the book they‘re reading. Night court aesthetic! 🌙 ✨
I‘m only just at the beginning of this book, but I‘m loving it so far. I can see myself binge-reading this, because I love one of the characters and settings so much. Details in a spoiler comment ⬇️.
Also, how pretty is this puzzle‘s artwork? It makes me want to paint something like it. Or purchase the puzzle. Or both.

This version of Lilac Wine is haunting. There used to be a YouTube video of the session if that‘s more your thing. Here‘s the Spotify link:

I have a feeling this book is going to be very quotable for me. I‘ll try not to spam Litsy with all the passages I highlight! 🤣
I actually really like this idea. I like quizzes and questionnaires that go deep into a subject, and I kinda wish my therapist had offered me a long quiz too. It might have sped things along a bit, rather than what ended up being years of therapy. I think it may have helped target our approach a bit. Ah, hindsight.
This came in the mail today. I‘m excited, because I ordered two copies of it, so a friend of mine and I can work through it together. It‘s got good reviews on other sites, but I‘ll post a review here once I‘ve finished it. 📚 ✨
I have never actually read anything by Arthur C. Clarke. I remember, when I was a girl, hanging out in my dad‘s library and seeing Arthur C. Clarke books on his bookshelves, but I never read any of them. I‘ve never really been a sci-fi lover, but the fact that my dad loves him kinda makes me want to read one to see what I think. I do really love this quote that popped up on another site online. 📚 🚀 🪐 ✨
Finished:
Valentines by Ted Kooser — 5 ✨
The True Love Experiment by Christina Lauren — 5 ✨
Currently reading:
A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas (a reread)
The Manhattan Girls by Gill Paul

I‘m surprised that I‘ve never reviewed this book, as it‘s the tarot guidebook that I reach for most regularly and the only one I‘ve purchased multiple times to give out to friends. I love the way it‘s set up and also how it makes me feel like I can do a thorough reading without having to guess what the card combinations mean. I‘m not a strong tarot reader, but this book makes me feel confident. I think it‘s a good starter book. Highly recommended!
My favorite sort of #HyggeHour items: my handmade pink mug, today‘s tarot card pull and an interesting crystal reference book that I enjoy flipping through. 🍵 🃏 📚
Just came across the #MtCookbook tag and decided that it‘s about time for me to give my cookbook shelves some attention. I think my goal will be to decide to either #readordonate ten cookbooks by the end of the year. Most of these have been fun to collect, but I‘ve only used a handful of recipes in them, as I look online a lot for the recipes I use. These aren‘t all my cookbooks, but this is the bulk of them. Since I need to start eating ⬇️
I picked this up on a Kindle sale today (in the US) for $1.99. It looks really good, and I‘m looking forward to digging into it. #correspondence #letters
This book makes me want to start my own tradition of sending valentines poems to my friends. This book was a quick read, both charming and lighthearted. I loved it and fully intend to reread it again and again. ♥️

This afternoon‘s poetry choice. I got the bookmark from a local artist at a ComiCon earlier today. I‘d never been to a ComiCon before, and this one was fairly small, but I actually thought that was a good thing, since it wasn‘t as much of an overload for all my senses. I‘m glad I went, even if the experience overall was underwhelming.
- picking up 2 new pendants/pendulums that I‘m looking forward to learning how to work with
- flipping through a pendulum book
- making a stack of festival bracelets
- a new bingo board for the last 2/3 of the year
- making chicken fried rice for dinner last night
#5JoysFriday
It‘s the end of the first third of the year, and the beginning of the following third. I only just heard about this challenge today, so I made up a board for myself for the last two-thirds of the year. Ready. Set. Go!

2️⃣ Delights and Shadows by Ted Kooser
3️⃣ I‘m hoping to plan at least two movie nights for our family. Just the four of us watching a movie at home. I‘m thinking also takeout pizza, which we only splurge on every few months.
@Eggs Thank you for hosting this fun challenge. I don‘t always participate, but I love reading the answers, and challenges like this really make Litsy feel so welcoming and fun. 🤗

This is one of my all time favorite songs. Someone shared it with me years ago, and it‘s stuck with me when other songs have fallen away. I‘ll try to share the link below. ⬇️

This one was so much fun! I loved having Fizzy‘s story! Another winner from Christina Lauren! 💕 #romantsy
I love this question! What a cool idea for something to ask everyone. I‘m really looking forward to going through the tag and checking out everyone else‘s answers.
As for me, I own the most copies of Anne Sexton‘s complete poems. I think I have four copies of it. Possibly five. I have several different editions, some of which are literally falling apart. One of them has been written in heavily. All of them are well loved. #SundayFunday
For some reason, the ACOTAR series is included in my Audible membership. I just found this out this week, so I‘ve decided I‘m going to reread this one and then possibly read the series. I‘ve only ever read the first book, but none of the following ones. I can‘t remember what I thought of it. Apparently, I gave it a pick, so there is that. We‘ll see how it compares to Crescent City. 🌙 🌆
1. The Power of Love by Frankie Goes to Hollywood
2. Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper
3. Lucky Star by Madonna
^^^I got stuck going down an 80s songs rabbit hole for the past hour. I finally realized there were no perfect 3 songs, because they can‘t really be narrowed down that far. So, with the exception of the first song, the others are not top favorites of mine. They‘re just great songs.
#ThreeListThursday #TLT
1. Both my great-aunt and my grandma. Also, my granddaddy. All three of them were always kind. I never saw any of them be anything other than gentle and kind.
2. My partner and my two sons.
3. I‘ve always loved Madeleine L‘Engle‘s O‘Keefe family. I wanted to be part of that family when I was a girl. I think I kinda still do.

I‘d like your recommendations on books that would help someone deal with bullying. They can be for adults or YA. As an AuDHD adult with C-PTSD, I find that I don‘t have the social skills to navigate bullying. I could really use a couple books to help me work my way through it. Nothing triggering, please. Nonfiction is cool, as is fiction, as are graphic novels. I‘m open to anything. ⬇️
The irises are in bloom. I wait all year for this. They‘re so beautiful. I actually go out of my way when driving places to drive by homes with irises in their yards. I keep a running list of which homes have them and which colors they have from the ones I‘ve seen while driving in previous years. The home with the most beautiful iris display changed owners last year, and before they moved, they dug up all their irises. They must‘ve had 200. ⬇️
This was the perfect spring read. I really loved these poems. My only complaint about this library book isn‘t about the content but instead about the fact that another reader read this while eating and dropped food on many of the pages throughout it. Who does that and then doesn‘t even bother to wipe the food off? I was using my fingernail to scrape away chunks of dried food. It was really disrespectful and careless of that person. But the poems?
