builds the world in an amazing way. didn‘t try to get me to like snow, and actually filled me with revulsion at his deep psychosis.
i really really loved that the world of the trilogy in such a beautiful, genuine, ugly way. plus collins has one of my all time favorite writing style.
definitely worth the read.

at first, i thought this book made me feel small. i‘m just one of so many, and even if everyone vanishes there will still be so much more than me.
but in the end... it‘s still true that i‘m one of too many. if everything ends tomorrow there will be so much more than me. but i‘m not small. i exist. my place in the world may be little. but it always Is.

these books aren‘t just 2012‘s middle school fodder. they‘re heavy, and mean so much.
pay attention to them, and you pay attention to the world.

i‘ll never stop being upset that the movies, while good, took away the soul of these books. they‘re so powerful.

hit me really hard in the moment, and it was really grasping. but now, a few hours after finishing it, i just don‘t care too much about it.

The Kite Runner: Rejacketed | Khaled Hosseini
Pickpick

It was REALLY good. the first half was spent with my face curled in hatred of the narrator. but it made me understand a little more about healing from the unhealable. it picks up and gets really thrilling about halfway through. the end is just the perfect mix of realistically dissatisfying and “i believe it‘ll be okay” that makes a book great.

A Thousand Splendid Suns | Khaled Hosseini

it‘s really really good, but it was definitely oversold by the girl that recommended it to me. it‘s a really good book to read, giving me access to a culture and a world i‘d never otherwise see. plus, the writing style is emotionally charged, making molehills out of mountains in the best way. the two main characters are strikingly amazing foils, who grow and change together, with their love for each other driving the last third of the book.

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I loved this one!! It just ripped my heart out though 💔😭 4y

Really easy to read, but it gives extra character development to these characters i‘ve always loved. Very nice. My crush on Han has doubled down.

I tend to not believe in romance or mysteries. This is the book I read when I need to believe, at least for the duration.

William Shakespeare's Hamlet | William Shakespeare, Harold Bloom
Panpan

By far my least favorite Shakespeare play. There‘s a few spots where the words are nice, but the plot‘s still bad. There‘s nothing about Hamlet (the character) that makes me want to keep paying attention to him. Horatio‘s cool, but the fact that he likes Hamlet is a bad mark on his character. It‘s just no good.

Dionsorrell What did you think about Bloom‘s commentary? 4mo

This book was incredible. I just finished, and I‘m too shaken to even write a coherent review. Definitely a worthy successor to The Raven Boys and Dream Thieves.

The Dream Thieves | Maggie Stiefvater
Pickpick

This second book in “The Raven Cycle” series is even more bracing than the first. Stiefvater reveals her true talents by adjusting her writing style based on the character from whose point of view she writes. Her style is dizzying, straightforward, creative, and simple all at once. Truly a worthwhile read.

Though I started reading this on a simple suggestion, I couldn‘t bring myself to put it down. Somehow it subtly explores intense emotions and universal truths of life, while set in a world full of inescapable magic. With breathtaking twists and heartbreaking themes, Raven Boys filled my heart to the brim, and then some.

Fat Girl on a Plane | Kelly Devos

Pickpick

I‘ve never been the fat girl on a plane. But I‘ve been the loser on the bus and the girl having a panic attack in the bathroom.
Devos‘s book lets you know that you don‘t have to stop being that person. A good many of us are freaks. What matters isn‘t that you stop being afraid a freak. It‘s that you stop caring that anyone else thinks that of you.
Devos understands this, and as her MC grows and changes, she helps the readers to understand, too.
