The Crime Trade
The Crime Trade: A Novel | Simon Kernick
5 posts | 2 read | 1 to read
When Operation Surgical Strike, a police sting designed to catch Colombian drug traffickers in the act of selling a large consignment of cocaine to undercover police officers, goes horribly wrong, suspicion quickly falls on one of the police officers involved: "Stegs" Jenner. Stegs is no ordinary cop. Something of a maverick, he has in the past played the role of a criminal just a little too well. Now suspended from duty, and with his close friend killed in the shoot-out, he determines to go at it alone. DI John Gallan and his partner Tina Boyd are part of the subsequent investigation that will take them to the heart of one of London's most notorious criminal gangs. What they cannot know is that they've also embarked on a journey that will lead one of them straight into the rifle sights of the enemy.

#seriesread2021
I keep discovering more Kernick books I haven‘t read. This is the original Tina Boyd series.
Good detective/police procedure read.

TrishB @squirrelbrain @BarbaraBB of course, it‘s a long story! I‘m fine and love being back, just 2 days. My team haven‘t been back yet as they don‘t think it‘s safe and I have a bit of a stalemate. Which has reminded me how much fun it is being a manager. 3y
TrishB @Cathythoughts it was 😁 3y

This was a bit of a slow starter for me but once it got going I really enjoyed this book. Simon Kernick does write a good #MysteryandSuspense book and would be one of my favourites. This is written as #1 in the Tina Boyd series but she is only one of three central characters in the book and the book isn't even written from her perspective, I wonder if he made a decision in a later book to write a series based on her.

Wanted to start a book that I could finish during the weekend, so have started the first book in the Tina Boyd series. I know she comes up as a character in book 2 of the DI Ray Mason series and wanted to find out a little more about her before I read that book. #currentlyreading
